I want to make my car faster

I own a 2002 325ci, and I love it! I just wish it could get up and go a little more than it does. I'm thinking about installing a k&n cold air, but I have no idea where to go from there. Any ideas?

Save your money to move up to a 330 or M3. I learned the hard and expensive way that it is far cheaper to buy a fast car than make a slow car fast.

For a noticeable increase in power you need to think a little bigger than an intake. A supercharger such as the kit form VF engineering (LINK) would provide you with noticeable gains and a serious increase in acceleration.

I want to make my car faster

Thanks Taylor I was looking an m3's in my area. They are surprisingly cheap, considering my car has under 95,000 miles I could trade it in. I'm just having a hard time giving up my car! She's my baby

I think if you get yourself into a nice M3, that will easily erase the memory of your baby and quickly take her place

More speed

I have a 323Cic. Clearly not the fastest of the e46s. I have made it much faster by reducing weight. Changed the wheels, brakes, spare and headers. It is now reasonably fast. Not cheap be very effective - 100lbs = 10hp.

Next, for $4900 I will drop a new 3L (330) engine and stage one super charger. All in all, I should push close to 400hp. Not the fastest car in the world but with it lightened up a very respectable road car that will be a sleeper.

My 2c.

You've got an e46 vert... enjoy it while you can! I've spent ~4k in parts for my car, and all I'll really prob gain is 20 hp.
If you can afford a good, reliable low mileage m3, go for it!!

I enjoy my 325ci vert very much, and its pretty fun... But I won't be going up against 335's anytime soon.

Look up a nice e90/e92 335... Within 3-4k you can be FBO and pushing close to 390+ horses, and very high torques! M3 killer for a very reasonable price! Twin turbos are really fun...

I vaguely have a memory of my last TWO 325 verts. They "were" my babies. But that role was filled rather quickly....

How do I make my car faster? The skinny pedal!!!!

Intakes and exhausts aren't noticeable aside from the sound. Save up for a supercharger, 330, or M3.

Like they said, if you REALLY want fast, supercharge it. If you just want more pep, check out the list in my sig, as I've done most all the little things you can do that add up to enhance the driving experience (outside of headers, which are illegal in CA). A s/w tune, intake, and headers is pretty much a straightforward way to get some more speed.. but again, not lightning fast. I did a few other minor things too.

I'm thinking about a cat back exhaust, anyone feel that it perked up their 325?
I don't want anything too loud, just a bit throatier.

I want to make my car faster

Not sure if this is still open but I have a 2002 325ci supercharged with 11lbs of boost. Very fun car. Gets going really quick. I have a catback & it's pretty throaty. You can hear the blown off valve more than the exhaust most of the time.

Really surprised no one suggested nitrous. Don't go crazy with it. I think 75 wet shot is more than reasonable. Just have it installed professionally. "Lean run caused damage to valve(s), allowed a hot exhaust charge to contact the rich charge while the intake valves were open, igniting the incoming charge and exploding back up the manifold." That is if you don't do it correctly. It'll be one hell of an experience either way
