e46 compact track car

hi guys, just a few images of the compact (ti) from donington park earlier this week.
the little sod was quite twitchy throughout the morning but at lunch, I added a bit extra neg camber and found it quite stable.

it has standard 190bhp m54b25 motor, standard box and standard 3.23 open diff with bc racing coilovers, Porsche calipers F&R with 345mm csl front disc's and modified 328mm m3 rear's (with working hand brake.)

weight is around 1100kg. theres more to come out yet (aircon etc) but it does have a lexan window kit and the doors have been gutted.

many more bits on it and many more still to go on it.

its all e46 underneath and looking at different diff options.

hope you all enjoy the images as much as I enjoyed driving it.

its never been dynode but here in uk they are rated at 190 (192 if memory serves me correct) 323's come in at 170 (same lump but m52)

I do know that a euro motor tends to be free'r than the us equivalent due to stringent us emission regulations and IMO was a shame you guys never got the s50/52 euro motor (you pretty much got all the horses with the s54 )

somewhere I have some images of my old e36 328is with a dbilas itb set up, should've kept it as I coulda used that motor with its near 260!

the euro spec m50/52 b20 is rated at 150 and m54b22 170 (both really sweet revving motors)

I would say that maybe the 160 you have is quite a bit down on where it needs to be

to be fair to you, i'm hoping it doesn't have 190 as I was struggling to out run a couple of e36 318is race cars (m42/44 140)

Nice compact!!!
Iam helping a friend local making a 330 compact (M54) these days.
I see that you live in UK..
I believe going to M54B30 would be easy if you want more.. You can also find Alpina 3,3 engine there (i don't know the prices).
Post pics of the interior.

slight problem with interior pics as I just pulled out the seats and dash today as I am removing all the heater matrix and aircon etc.
I have been making a panel which fits in the center space which was once the home of the heater control unit, radio and top center heater vent. I was doing ok until I had a slight accident with the drill and scratched it DOH!
the plan is to fit a heated screen in order to demist on damp days.
today, I just got a text from a contact who is building a s54 engined compact with many trick bits. he will have a fibreglass bonnet (hood) ready next week for his compact so I told him to have another made for me so there's another weight saving.
target weight is around 1050kg, i'll be very happy with that!

I am pleased there are so many positive responses to the compact as it isn't the favourite model of many but I like it and it really is something different to hoon around in

heres some pics of the interior before it was sort of finished (is a track car ever truly finished) due to the position of the cage A pillar, we had some issues with re fitting the light control module but with a bit of creative thinking we got it sorted

yeah, I think it is the headers and tune.

having read up on some figures, most if not all versions of the m50 series of engines seem to be in a state of tune which is slightly less than the euro equivalent. I can only assume that this is due to strict u.s emission regulations.
saying that though, I doubt there will be any difference in performance with a bit of creative selection of final rive ratio's. bmw did this with the u.s version of e36 m3 and performance was probably on par with the euro s50/52 versions.
