This is pure evil

Hurts lower back? Or works lower back. Seems obvious this will annihilate the lower back first couple rounds.

How about splitting a cord of wood every weekend instead?

Works. It will be pretty tight. Mine gets like that, anyway.

So i went in search of a kettle at my gym... they don't have any...wtf? Well they have up to 12lbs.

Anyhow, so I wasn't going to start today, but since I have never used kettles before I decided to at least get accustomed to the motion and such using a dumb bell...

All I can say is fuuuuuuck this is going to be difficult. 50 is going to be insane without a doubt.. Not sure if maybe i should start at say 35 lb, and just do that for a month, and maybe after raise the weight... regardless this looks to be one challenging mother f'er.

^ It's tough. I started with 55lb DB, did max of 20 reps in each set. Beyond that form will suffer. My whole body is sore from 175 reps only, cannot imagine if I do 300 reps lol

A few weeks ago I did 5 sets of 10 swings with our 106lb KB

(Super-setted with 5 muscle-ups.)

I was pretty much toast after that.

Ok. Granted I've never done kettles swings. Regardless I'm giving this moth a whirl sticking to this....

After day one thoughts: **** MY LIFE!!!!

Set 1
40lb dumbbell (should I go less???)
10 swings
1 military press (95lbs: I should probably do more weight for this)
15 swings
2 military press
25 swings
3 military press
35 swings (break) 15 more swings

3 minutes rest

Set 2:
40 lb dumbbell
10 swings
1 military press (95 lbs)
15 swings
2 military press
10 swings (break) 10 swings (break) 5 swings
3 military press
10......10......10.....10......10 swings

Set 3:
40 lb dumbbell
10 swings
1 military press (95lbs)
5 swings......

Okay **** this my back is on FIRE!!!

Did 3 more sets of 10 swings with a 20 lb dumbbell and got the hell out dodge moaning and groaning.

I'm going back tomorrow for more. Any advice to help me progress better?

I wish I had some man. Just keep going. My lower back gets toasted from swings. Is that where you felt it too?

Yup. Back was on fire! I think maybe this week I'll stick with a lower weight. Try to get the whole work out done "to standard" and work from there. 50 is a lot for me. Haha

^ I think there is something going on with your form. I weigh 22lbs less than you do and 55lbs DB was not bad. Hard but manageable.

Today I finished this:

Total: 200 swings @55lbs, 50 pull-ups, 50 dips body weight.

10 times: 20 swings, 5 push-ups, 5 pull-ups in 50min including rest/warm up

More than likely something wrong with yours. I throw around my 80lber almost everyday and it still will get me really sore.

DB swings make me sore, it hits my back, hams, and forearms the most. I mostly use my hips as suggested on many videos on YT. It's a tough exercise, but 55lbs for me was doable. We all should post videos, the only way to figure this out.

I even did it without a shirt for you, Z00. This was after my workout, just a quick vid with the 80LB KB.
