ITT: GDIs who didn't get laid in college, and are having trouble getting laid afterwards. They need to release their frustration on someone.

This is why I don't affiliate myself with Frats

I never understood the allure of being in a frat.

I was a douche before I became a brother, and still was a douche after (most college kids are douchebags, honestly). The only difference is the pool of pvssy available became much larger when I went Greek.

Has its perks... more parties to attend, more friends, more networks, more girls, resume bullets, ect. You're never really alone when you're in a fraternity, and it was nice to have my friends from high school/college as well as my brothers.

I was a commuter so it really allowed me to meet new people who either dormed or commuted as well - as I would not have met as many people otherwise. Most of my close friends went away to college so it was great.

A lot of people allow the Greek life to get to their heads, many of my brothers were guilty of this themselves - nobodies in high school who gained "popularity" in the Greek system and allowed it to get to their heads. As others have said, once a douche, always a douche... I met some of the coolest kids who were in Fraternities and others who were not... as well as the hugest douches on both sides of the fence.

Those who knock those who choose to pledge are just as bad as the Greeks who look down on those who don't.

Me either. However, I would pay for a common area for massive parties, free food for two meals a day, free alcohol, and a pool of higher quality girls than I would meet in class.

That's why I had friends in frats, so I could mooch off all the frat benefits without dealing with the bullshit It's really the way to go like Freshman/sophomore year.

After that I enjoyed house parties 10x better. Much more fun. I always lol'd at the pledge checking to "see if you're on the list" to get into the party How douchey is that. "We're ultr4 xclus1ve y0"

Typical response is typical.

Each fraternity is unique. I find it hilarious when people lump them together and make blanket statements. If you didn't join a fraternity that's great, glad it worked out in your case as the best choice.

Those not in a fraternity simply cannot appreciate the experiences, opportunities, and lifetime of networking that come with being a member.

How witty, I can't believe we had to PAY for our home, food and booze! Was it free for everyone else on campus?

Zell has his narrow minded views... Can't help someone see another's point of view if they refuse to. I partied at chapters of my Fraternity all over and "mooched" off my friends' Fraternities as well. I also partied at sports houses and just random house parties.

Why is someone who had a great college experience so angry towards Greek life and trying to convince those who partook in it - how awful it is? I had an amazing time. Wouldn't change a thing. It's quite apparent that Zell is still mad about something. Maybe a TKE banged his crush or something.

And the "pay for your friends" is a tired argument from GDIs who haven't the slightest clue about what brotherhood is. The money goes towards insurance, parties, brotherhood events, fundraising, community service, ect. Every organization needs money to be run.

I think frats would be perceived better if they owned up to the fact that you are buying a social circle. Certainly that's not all of it, but it's part of it. When people simultaneously own up to paying into a group that hosts exclusive parties and also screams "I'M NOT BUYING FRIENDS" those ideas don't really work together. I don't see anything wrong with someone saying yeah, I'm 18 and don't know many people here, so I've paid some money to supplement my social circle. It's no different than paying cover at a bar.

As for the community service, that's unfortunately heavily overshadowed by rape, hazing, butt chugging, etc.

I had female friends in college who made a game about seeing how much they could get guys to buy for them. They'd keep a running tab of how much guys could spend on them. Highest unpaid tab = winner.

Even when they weren't playing their game, it wasn't unusual for them to go into a bar with no cash or cards other than their ID.
