No offense was intended. Striped socks vs. pinstriped suit as mentioned above made for a good thread.

Happy you have a career that requires you to staple more than 30 pages at once.
I can't remember the last time I used a stapler. I guess I picked the wrong career.

I'm starting to like this more as I see it more in the office. What I usually see, though, is the loud socks match the shirt and/or tie

Pattern on pattern is ok but vary the pattern, like dots on stripes or something. Maybe (and a very remote maybe, depending on colors and quality) horizontal or diagonal striped tie on a vertical striped shirt. The stripes have to be muted on the tie, not loud at all. But not vertical on vertical, that's just plain fugged up.

Same people who paint their wheels neon green, out pedo bear stickers on their cars with bike racks *without bikes* would find this fashionable. Everyone else (including myself) will think it's a tasteless way to look for attention.

You're calling someone else a KKK member? This is rich, what does that make you, a Neo Nazi?

But on a regular basis, no. Its not good to be a peacock/show off when it comes to clothing in a business environment. Its less about bad taste and more about rubbing people the wrong way.
There is nothing swaggy about that "European cut" suit. I don't care what GQ says - I had a subscription to GQ about 1-2 years ago, between the 2 page pullout "advertisements" with photos that centered around a mans crotch and every male model pictured looking fairly effeminate/androgynous - I'm sure it's not a magazine for heterosexual males.

I don't do any of the above and yet find OP's pic tasteful

White socks - pants should be cuffed and shortened above ankle to show you mean business in a business setting!

so you have to dress like a bum until you get that big promotion? lol don't be silly... and for the record, a white french cuffed shirt is a staple, every guy should have one or two.

$300 for a proper dress shoe is pretty accurate as well, unless you want to look snazzy around the office with your rubber sole'd kenneth cole reaction dress shoes
