I am currently running oem styling 135 18" and i dont like the ride at all. I would say 20" will be bad experience.

Sorry, IMO those look horrible.

On a non-M I think 18s work well, for and M 19s work well, 20s look out of place on 3 series, car is not physically big enough ti support such a large wheel.

Offset of front wheels looks way to aggressive as well.

Just my .02$

I'm replacing my stock rims from 19" to 20's is that a bad idea?

If u want some 20s u should just buy mine. High quality rims but I want some 18f and 19 rear.

Here's my other one with 18s. And I love this setup

Here is my first m with 19s that I also liked

This was my e92 m that I thought looked much better on 19s than the e46 does with them

Each to their own opinion but bigger rims will make it feel more numb. Small rims will increase burnouts and traction issues. U also have think how stiff your call will ride on rubber bands and how many tire u will bubble. I prefer a 18" setup with a 40mm side wall look on the e46 m. I also like a nice wide tire 285 up front on a 10" rim. But after rolling the fender it will still not clear the 40mm sidewall on a stock fender so I have 30mm on the green car. Good luck and if u have any questions I can share some of my experiences with u.
