This thread motivated me. Went to failure on my chest workout today. Then did some more.

Tomorrow, gonna do some snatches.

Some monster numbers in here.... Any videos? I'm seeing numbers that rival the powerlifters/strongman competitors I regularly workout with.

Not all of the numbers I have seen are what I would call profession power lifter/strong man numbers. While the numbers are impressive. Mine for example are my 1 rep maxes. Which power lifters/strongmen can rep the same amount of weight multiple times. Which in-turn makes my numbers that much less impressive.

Well you're by far and away the strongest on here. I just like to see video or I'm skeptical. You know this being the internet and all. Not saying you can't or don't put up those numbers. It was a general/blanket statement for everyone including myself. I'm hesitant to even say what I can do unless someone specifically asks or I have a video/picture to post along with it.

Just do you don't think I'm calling you specifically out an example would be deadlift. Everyone seems to say they can deadlift 400lbs or around 400lbs. Yet in real life, I see very very few that actually can with decent form.

23 years young.
5'10"
160lb

205 x2 Bb flat
315 DL
275x2 Squat
Don't typically do OHP but I can usually do 95lb for 6-8 reps so I'm not sure. I prefer dumbbells & am at 70s for 3-4 good reps.

Goals are currently 225 x 1 on flat, 335 on DL, and 315 squat.

Getting ready to do my first powerlifting competition next month. Went a little crazy on the bulk though - I was hoping to come in at 199 lbs, but I'm closer to 220 right now. Ouch! I've got some videos, don't have any current 1 reppers on the bench or OHP though.

Age: 47
Height: 5' 10"
Weight: 225

Deadlift: 450 (ignore the cat)

Squat: 375 cheap wraps, got SBD sleeves for the competition though.

Bench: 260

OH Press: (strict) 150 (push press) 200

The deadlift is my best exercise and I'm hoping to drive that up a bit more for the competition, as I figure that's where my highest amount of points will come from. I don't imagine I'll win in my class (unless nobody shows up lol), but I'm looking for the first experience and my goal is to hit 300/400/500 for my 50th birthday.

Thanks! I wish I had known how to properly lift back when I was young. The progress and physical changes I've made since beginning 5 years ago are amazing.

I had access to people that could teach me growing up. I just had absolutely no interest in it till about 3 years ago.

good stuff and good luck with the competition

but ... how do you "over-bulk" by 20+ pounds? it took so much conscious effort to gain weight over 200 pounds for me
i went from 194 to 211 in 6 months and that required me to constantly up my calories

haha I just saw this. It was an old nick name that everyone in town calls me and it just kinda stuck. My name is Aaron, and backwards it spells noraA.

Nice man

Question: when you do your 5x5s do you work up to a top set using that rep/set scheme, or do you do a few warmup sets and then perform a 5x5 with a set amount of weight?
