M3 spare tire, or lack of

I am a M3 Newbie, (03 E46 Convertible). I have never had a car without spare tire? It apparently should have RF or "run flat" tires but it doesn't. Wheels are 19". Can I just pick-up a 4"x ? Compact Spare Wheel and tire and cram it in there? There is one on Evil Bay from a 5 series, (E90) for $100. Is this the best way to go? Bob Lesher

You should have the Mobility Kit under the trunk floor. The E46 M3 does not use run flats.

You can buy a spare if you feel you need one. LeatherZ and others sell them.

If my memory is good, you need a 17" spare doughnut tire and a jack. The smaller sizes have issues with the brake calipers. You will loose an inch or two of trunk space.

i have a donut spare that i carry in the trunk. I'm not sure if it fits, but i have it there for moral support in the event i have a blow out. My guess it might not clear the front brakes, so if i happen to blow out a front, i plan on moving one of the rear tires to the front and putting the donut in the rear. I also carry a jack and wrench.

I am considering this just to replace that nightmare of a jack they originally put in the E46! No plastic business in that scissor jack you got.
