While true, it is a harsh way to put it. When both parties believe they can benefit from the exchange or they believe they are getting the better deal, they make the trade.

So look at that badfast, capitalism makes our lives better!

You're against guns I'd bet.

I'm pretty sure badfast is against guns so I would win.

Rather than gaining and losing, it could be looked at as an exchange. After all, in the grand scheme of life, all goods are derived in some shape or form from the earth and the services that complement them.

I agree with badfast that it is wrong for someone to make money if they are directly hurting another party...however, in my opinion, this is only done by politicians. Even if someone else (oil companies, wall street, etc) do it, it is because the politicians are involved and they are the reason that it happens. Subsidies, political pandering, etc lead to corruption. The politicians pave the way for this crap to happen in the first place. Politicians create the holes, and then people are surprised that someone takes advantage of it. Thats human nature and no one can change that. All these problems we all bicker about in politalk stem from one place and one place only....washington....and yes, both sides...although we all know that there aren't two sides.

I've always stated corrupt companies these days are corrupt because of some up on Capital Hill. Otherwise companies would have a hard time getting away with things with the laws we have in place.

All the more reason to use the Marshmallow Plan.
