ti317, I admire your stamina in continually debating this topic, and I really enjoy the beat downs you are handing out. Bless you!

I wonder when joeski3d will post up in here that because the House did in fact pass a CR, all of his prior rants about the Tea Party and GOP were completely unfounded since he now sees that it was in fact the Dem-led Senate and the president who caused the shutdown when there was no longer any defund threat. Or when he will therefore acknowledge the extraordinary lengths Obama went to to make the shutdown as ugly as possible.

And 'busa playing the "put yourself in their shoes"/empathy card, all the while being totally unable or unwilling to do the same. Example - his admission that delaying the individual mandate would be bad for the ACA, but somehow not recognizing that Obama's illegal delay of the employer mandate was just as political but for the opposite reason - to protect the ACA at all costs. Conclusion - when his team plays politics it is ok but not when the other team plays the equivalent game. Oh, and how ironic that his team played the game to protect the evil capitalist/employers while sh!tting on the bourgeois.

Again, ti317, thank you!

Whose shoes do you want me to put myself in?

Where did I deny that that was a political decision?

I do want to congratulate President Obama on his incredible victory over the latest republican attempt to sabotage our country's economy

He's a winner.

Who Shut Down the Government?

Again. You're writing general statements that you could copy and paste in any conversation and they'd be equally (in)applicable.

You're saying implementing the law would be worse for Obamacare than forcing an exemption for a year?

It was politically expedient. I assume he did it to quell the backlash from conservative business lobbies.

Maybe, if they can't get the website to operate better soon enough.

You can't want to shut down the government and still want the government functions. I'm OK with the monuments being closed.

Rand Paul? Michelle Bachman? Mitch McConnell?
Senator Paul began, "Do you have a second?"
"I'm all wired up here, um," Senator McConnell replied.
"I just did CNN and I just go over and over again 'We're willing to compromise. 'We're willing to negotiate.' I think... I don't think they poll tested we won't negotiate. I think it's awful for them to say that over and over again," Paul said.
"Yeah, I do too and I, and I just came back from that two hour meeting with them and that, and that was basically the same view privately as it was publically [sic]," McConnell agreed.
Paul added, "I think if we keep saying 'We wanted to defund it. We fought for that and that we're willing to compromise on this', I think they can't, we're gonna, I think... well I know we don't want to be here, but we're gonna win this I think."
What would you have preferred?

Who? The guy that Obama killed?
I guess I'm too cerebral for you.
You win, I can't shed that many IQ points to keep explaining everything to you.
Be we'll brother, I'm done

Even more so now - at some point I would wonder if ti317 had a job or a life that he was carelessly sacrificing for a lost cause (you). Looks like he struck the perfect balance and is leaving you to flounder in this thread by yourself.

So now that Obama is willing to delay the individual mandate, which is what the GOP had proposed and were villified, I can expect all of you libs to demonstrate your integrity by calling Obama a terrorist, obstructionist, law breaker, etc., right?

And can someone remind me why the government was shutdown?

They DID... with 2 hours to spare. Whew... that was a close one. It's a good thing Obama blinked first when Cruz started his gubment shutdown threats. That could have been financially messy on an international level and, even worse, really bad publicity for the real Americans aka Tea Party.

Cabrio330 and Cruz had it right all along... and the rest of the country is just plain stoopid. Right?

I'll just leave this here....

Another Rule in Health Law Is Scaled Back

WASHINGTON Millions of people facing the cancellation of health insurance policies will be allowed to buy catastrophic coverage and will be exempt from penalties if they go without insurance next year, the White House said Thursday night.

...

It was another effort by President Obama to cushion the impact of the health care law and minimize political damage to himself and Democrats in Congress who adopted the law in 2010 over solid Republican opposition.
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/12/20/us...s.html?hp&_r=0

I really feel bad for you progressives, the strain you must be under to constantly delude yourself into thinking this law is good or that this administration has any chance of seeing this through. Alas, some quiet time in your plaid onesie pajamas and warm cocoa will allow you to contemplate things more clearly over the holidays.

It's a great first step on the road to single payer.

Try to focus.
