$643 million = Your Tax Dollars at Work

The website for PPACA (obamacare) was estimated to cost $93 million.
Cost at the time of roll-out - $643 million. (and it doesn't work)
And to add insult, it was contracted out to a Canadian Tech Firm.
Talk about exporting jobs.
The cost will only go up, as we pay more to get it fixed.

If the cost of the website was almost 7 times the estimated cost, how much do you think the actual cost of PPACA is going to cost? It was estimated by the CBO to be just shy of $1 trillion.
Govt will handle Healthcare just like SS, Medicare/Medicaid, Welfare, etc., etc.? All of this to cover an estimated 15 million citizens. Hell, it would have been cheaper to just buy all of them a gold health insurance plan.
Rumor is - that more Americans are loosing their health insurance than are signing up for OwebamaCare. So in a few years we will have an estimated 15-30 million Americans without Health Insurance, according to the CBO.

Deja Vu

Has anyone on here, under 30, signed up for this?

Then why didn't the GOP propose that as an alternative plan, or any other real, viable alternative for that matter? As is often said in business, don't bother pointing out a problem unless you have a better solution to offer.

We do SAP roll out's with significantly more functionality in less time and quarter the cost. But we are intelligent.

Why would they need to offer an alternative to a very bad idea?
Sometimes Nothing is better than a bad idea.

That strategy seems to be working wonders for the GOP these days.

Well, they better wait more than 3 years, since that clearly was not enough time to implement ACA. And going to single payer will certainly be more complicated. Maybe by then, the government will learn what beta testing is. It is the latest fad in software and website rollouts. Either way, getting it right isn't what matters, only that they have good intentions, right?

Where did this come from? Does the statement typically start with "I read" or "Some people"?

This is pretty inexcusable. Nearly a billion dollars on a website and servers that they knew would be accesed by millions of people, and they still didn't get it right.
