Rear end squealing

Yes I have an older model bmw but I do believe the drive train is all similar. I am on this forum enough and put in my 2 cents here and there for people who need it so I'd like some help back.

Anyways, I am getting a squeal under load when the car is decelerating in gear only!
So no noises when speeding up,no noise while braking and slowing down when in neutral. The only time this loud bad pulley squeal is happening is when you are in gear, and you let go of the gas pedal while you are letting the cars rpm descend. Once you come out of gear. There is no noise.

What I've done, had the car in the air with me in it, I accelerated, let the gas pedal go, accelerated, let off the gas pedal while someone is standing under the car tryna hear it. I didn't hear it from being in the car and he barely heard anything while being under it.
He did say he heard the squeal coming from the point in between the driveshaft and diff. I put the car down to the floor. Told him to come outside and listen to the noise when the car is driving on the streets and then he says, " yea that's the slight noise i heard under the car".

What do you think?

Based on the little I know, csb is not unlikely.

Not sure if when they go bad if the squeal would be less when out of gear, but I'd expect so.

Might be csb and guibo. The driveshaft still spins when the car is moving, but in gear, under load, the csb would probably be under much more force...especially if it's bad and wiggling around.

You might be able to use my hose/stethoscope and get it above the heat shield and isolate source of sound while it's up in the air...not sure about that...though the hose should help you isolate the sound anyway through the heat shield anyway.

Check your guibo too...that you can see without removing anything.

Only other thing, maybe diff fluid is low...is it leaking at all from any of the seals, front or sides?

I wish I can isolate the sound if the noise was able to be repeated but unfortunately the car has to be on the ground otherwise it's almost impossible to hear the noise.
And no diff is dry.

So one says bad csb, any other insights?

This would be my guess as well.

Can I visually inspect the CSB? It looks like a PITA job taking half of my exhaust off and what not.
What else would a bad CSB do? Vibration under acceleration? etc.

Can I have others confirm that its the CSB?

No one can really confirm...it's all guesswork here. I'd do guibo at the same time if you do csb.

Maybe you can get a look at csb above the heatshield. You'd see if the rubber surrounding the bearing is ripped...maybe.

How many miles, Eugene?

150k from what I know. I don't know if it was replaced... So I guess the mileage is irrelevant
