My Ride: 2003 330i
Question HK driver and passenger door woofers with intermittent flicker - 03 330i

Hi all, first post. I've been coming to e46fanatics for a while now when I need help on a DIY or general questions and figured I ought to ask this one directly since I can't find any threads with this problem.

As indicated above, the largest speaker in both my driver's and passenger's side doors does not play. BUT, rarely, I may hit a bump in the road (damn LA potholes) and for just a second or two, they'll come on and join the others. And here's the weird part -- I've found that if the passenger door is open, just about in the first "notch" of the door's open positions, they will both play without any dropouts at all. As soon as the passenger door is opened or closed further, both driver and passenger side woofers drop out again.

With absolutely no experience in car audio installations, my guess is that there's something in the passenger door wiring that's pinched, shorting both speakers (despite being on opposite sides of the car, are their wirings linked pretty closely since they're essentially a stereo pair?) that becomes un-pinched at a certain position of the door.

Ideas on where to start troubleshooting? Is the wiring in the door hinge accessible at all?

Everything I have audio-wise is entirely stock, never modified or tinkered with at all, just the standard HK speaker upgrade package.

Thanks all, so glad I bought a car that has a dedicated enthusiast base.
