Looking to buy an e36 m3 what to look for

I'm in a 2005 325i right now and I'm looking for something a bit sportier without it costing me much more. I love the e36 and the way it feels, and the fact that I could almost get an equal trade makes it really tempting for me. So my question is, what do I look for? I know the e46 has certain problems and such to look for, what are the e36s? Also, as far as DIYs would the e36 be easier to work on? Any general info would help, too.

Coolant system also, look for leaks. I would have a mechanic take a look at it by putting the car on a lift and then from under neath he can see if there any oil leaks etc. just to have you peace of mind man
