Eonon or Dynavin? Comparison?

Is there a comparison of two units? What are cons and pros? Besides the price obviously.

Well, these threads are getting lengthy and full of technical details, mostly people trying to figure out how to do this and that.
I'm looking more for the answer like: this costs more but it's much better because...or this unit is the same as that but not very reliable yet and has a lot of bugs.
My understanding is that they are very similar but Eonon is newer and may have more bugs but is priced significantly cheaper.
And Jeff being the distributor of Dynavin, you would be biased in your opinion, no?

well, you kind of answered your own question there didnt you?

Basically it goes like this, the list of functions reads the same, but as you said, the enco/eonon/etc... have various well discussed issues but are cheaper.

However to me the larger issue is related to opposing business models, the companies and people behind them, and how that affects you, the customer. Im proud of the way I do business, I try to treat everyone right, take care of issues, support the product, and earn your business. I think my reputation here shows that. This means before and after sale support, a unit that works, a real warranty with no hassles, legitimate licensed software with future support, etc... Dynavin has done a great job over the last few years of improving their product, creating a solid dealer base, supporting those dealers, getting better nav software, all while keeping the price reasonable.

The other guys have taken a different approach and are doing the "direct from china" business model. Its cheaper to do it that way.... there is little profit built into the transaction. HOWEVER, little profit means there is no way to pay for things like: a real warranty, decent licensed nav software, working parts, phone or email support, shipping, etc.... Even the biggest enco/eonon fans will tell you that support is almost non-existent after the sale....to the point of charging the customer for broken or incorrectly functioning parts like the "canbus" box debacle....(its an ibus box by the way...). Note today's thread about taking the unit apart to solder in a new external microphone so the bluetooth is usable, or the other thread where they are discussing pirating iGo Primo Nav software so that they have a decent nav program.

I have no problem with these forum guys trying to make their units better/usable and I applaud their ingenuity, but I dont think a lot of readers of these forums are putting all the pieces together and fully understanding what they are getting into. What I can tell you is that I have sold a number of dynavin units to people who went this route first, not realizing what they were getting into.

This is the forth or fifth go-around with these cheap units, they show up every 6 to 9 months with a different name. This time it seems to have gained more traction, but every time previously it has ended the same, and it wasnt good for the customer.

Am I biased.....yeah, I suppose I could be viewed that way, but I dont think Im wrong.
This is basic economics, not really a matter of opinion. The compromises that you are willing to make and the type of business you want to support, now that is a matter of opinion.

Hey Jeff - I have a question...

Has Dynavin improved the quality of their Bluetooth connection? I remember reading that the Bluetooth they used really didn't sound great. I'm definitely in the market for one of these..

Thanks!

Yeah, looks like Dynavin is more or less stable now. But, Eonon is getting there, we"ll see if their new version catches up with Dynavin...I'm more of "set it up and forget about it" type, I do no want to solder wires and stuff, so I def. need a stable unit with minimum modifications and no surprises.

Yes, they partnered with Parrot for the bluetooth system a while back. Much improved, solid phone performance and wireless audio streaming pretty much as good as plugging in.

I saw that...it's crazy, I thought there were just a couple of units like this. Now it turns out there are quite a few...

And they are all RAW and unpredictable at this point. I mean I'm not confident enough to buy any of them, may be except Dynavin Windows to set it and forget it and enjoy a good looking navigation. Sounds like Android is for geeks who actually enjoy messing with electronics. I'm a "normal" user, need navigation, USB, Bluetooth, rear camera, good radio, etc...do not need apps, at least at this time...
