I caught this video of two smaller bucks fighting in front of my trail camera. The first buck to walk in is a little spike/fork, and the 2nd buck to walk in is a little 8point buck.

Check out the video:

I was out shootin' some skeet on Friday nite. 3 Does were haning out at the edge of the field. I was surprised that with 2 skeet fields & full sqads shooting at the same time they didn't run off.

Got my buck! On camera...kind-of!

After getting cold, meeting up with dad at the field edge (and kicking up an unknown deer - possibly my buck) - we came up with the idea that dad was going to walk the woods to warm up - I was going to walk to the other edge of the woods to warm up and be ready for him to push the woods.

We were going to take our time, and I was going to take a few minutes to change out the memory card on my trail camera when I passed through an edge of the woods.

I pulled the camera down, changed the memory card, and went to rehang the camera to the tree when I heard something over my shoulder - 20-25 yards out, here he comes. I set the camera down, turned, leaned over to shoot around a clump of trees, and shot my deer.

I had the trail camera on video mode, my motion tripped it, and it caught me shooting on video!

I didn't get anything this year...fvcking wolves up north are really depleting deer populations. Maybe I'll put in for a wolf license next year, probably more likely to bag one of those.

I'd be game for a wolf license. They've got them up north in WI too - but I'm nowhere near those zones.

I'd be fine if I was further south but I'm pretty close to Canada for where I hunt. Private land owned by my wife's grandfather is better than public land. I don't like being shot at by idiot hunters.

I hear ya there. I'm on private land too, but I've heard many public land stories.

I normally hunt south of Rochester on a large acreage of private farm land. North edge of a town called Fountain. Sink Hole capital of the world. Didn't go again this year, and very happy I didn't. Nobody who went saw anything.

Thinking that next year I'm gonna try to get in with the In-Laws and go with them up to Aitkin. They see deer, and they can use rifles. Can't argue with that.

I've got a friend up in the Rochester area, he hunts, I'm just not sure where he hunts.

I used to be in a shotgun only zone here in WI, but that changed a couple years ago. I switched from my 12g slug gun to a 300wsm when they opened up those rules...

I started deer hunting when I was 13 years old or so. Started with an old 270, then moved to a remington 700 chambered in 7mm rem-mag. While I liked the 7mm, I felt it was a bit overkill for most North America big-game hunting. I decided to build a gun from scratch, and after much research, decided on Hornady's 6.5 Creedmoor. It uses a standard 308 bolt, it's a short-action, very accurate, and plenty for all the big game hunting I do (deer, wild pigs, and elk).
