Does it feature freeze frame, live data, and fuel trims?

No this the Autel 305 does not support Live/Real Time data, not much under at least $30 will support Live/Real Time data.

Do you have a smart phone, I believe you do as I have seen posts where you used the phone app.

If so, get an App and interface for $30 or under. Will also graph and do more than even a cheap $30 stand alone tool.

Torque Pro or TouchScan for Android, OBD Fusion for IOS.

I would but I might change phones soon, so I rather get a more portable device.

This one you listed, provides all the right stuff, correct?

Amazon description claims is supports Freeze Frame and Live/Real Time data.

Not 100% clear about Emission Readiness Monitors?

Have not tried OBD Fusion first hand, but I have been supporting a Fanatic here that purchased it and he has sent me numerous CSV files from captures that I have looked over and commented on. Additionally I have communicated with the author of OBDWiz, TouchScan and OBD Fusion and he has been pretty responsive. I have also added the Profession add on pack to my OBDWiz and only had a few moments to play with the Professional add on pack, so other than just the basic features that were expanded a bit, I cannot comment much yet. I am interested to see if I can use the PID search tool on a few interesting cars and actually monitor some things that do not follow the basic OBDII format, but time is my enemy at the moment.

Will all these tools there is a slight learning curve, however, most will figure them out pretty quickly.
My wifi dongle came in the mail today. Played around with it on PBD Fusion for a few minutes but couldn't figure out how to log data and export it. Connected to my ipad with ease. I contacted support just now so hopefully I hear back within the next day or so about logging.

My first impression is that it works as advertised. Reads code etc, has several PID values and such. It seems to be not as good of a solution as a direct hard wired option though, seems like there is a lag in the information but it is accurate. Seems almost like it takes data every few seconds as opposed to a constant stream. Not positive though, again only played around with it for about 20 minutes or so. Probably due to the nature of the wifi connection?

What did the CSV files look like that the other fanatics with OBD Fusion sent you? Just curious

Ahh, just realized it stands for comma separated values. So how would this work with live data? Is it just several instances of freeze frame data seconds apart over and over again?

Initial comments are Lean condition at idle, most likely vacuum leaks.

Initial thoughts are crankcase air leak, but need more background and data.

Need a screen shot like the last one WITH engine running after warmed up for 10+ minutes, could be after a drive.

Then I can comment more.

Also suggest you start a new thread now that you can gather data with a tool.

Please put all things inspected, changed, replaced in the description of what has been done to date for your problems.

Took the advice given and purchased a OBDii sensor for 13.50 on Amazon, and Torque pro for five dollars. Got it hooked up today and it works great. Love the real time data that you have have the app display!

OBDII tool, do not leave home without it.

Funny how once you have one of these tools, the infamous SES/CEL/MIL never wants to come on!

Cheap insurance if it works out that way for you.

I highly recommend OBD Fusion if you decide to go with an iOS app. I believe it's the same company as OBD Wiz that jfoj has been recommending. Their customer support is superb and extremely quick to respond.

I even suggested a new feature and they have informed me they are going to include it in the next update! How abut that!

Feature to be added (among others): updated export function, currently only can export via email and cannot actually read the CSV logs within the app. They are either adding an "open in" function so you can export to other apps without Internet connectivity, or the ability to read the CSV chart in app. Matt did not specify.

Either way, they are constantly improving their app and actually take the opinions of their customers into consideration.

The Torque Pro app for Android is a great app, shows tons of live data.

Highly recommended, also pay the 5 dollars since its close to nothing. Saying this because my co-worker uses torque pro to (he never told me, after i bought it) and he had a .apk file for the payed one.. Just buy it

Agree the author of of OBD Fusion, Touch Scan & OBDWiz is pretty responsive. I have been working with them on some issues and trying to get some features and changes implemented.

One VERY important item I think others should continue to ask for is a manual trigger to mark a recording. Something as simple as tapping the touch screen or a maker function button on the corner of a screen so while driving if you encounter an intermittent problem, you can mark or highlight the event so it can be easily found if you have hours of recording.

Obviously you can also just stop recording shortly after the event and then guess where something happened, but this may not be helpful.

I also think all of these newer tools should ALWAYS be recording. A FIFO buffer system that when you connect a tool up, there is always like a 5 minute window of OBD data stored. Storage is cheap and freely available these days. No reason not to do something like this.

So for anyone that has any of these tools, please put your requests in. The more requests, the more likely features will be added. Also the more responsive a vendor is, the more likely they are to get more business.

There is NO REASON everyone should not have at least one of these software based OBDII apps, most are $35 or less.

There are a few more out there that are popping up on the radar and the prices are coming down. I will update shortly with a few of newer entries that I had not listed before.

UPDATE - Additional OBD Software options for Windows, Android and Apple iProducts.

Not really a new entrant to the market, however, it appears that this company has expanded its lineup to include Android and iProducts as well as starting to drop their prices a bit due to competition. As they say competition is a good thing most of the time. Gives the consumer more options and hopefully better pricing.

Palmer Performance now has coverage and different products for Windows, Android and iProducts. Seems they are not priced competitively to many of other portable Apps on the market. I have not used these products yet, so I do not know first hand if Palmer offers things other vendors don't, but you should take a look for yourself and if anyone purchases and uses the Palmer products, please update with feedback. It does appear with the Palmer products you may be able to monitor wideband O2 sensors for tuning purposes, but I have not fully confirmed this.

http://www.palmerperformance.com/

Dash Command is the App for Adroid and iProducts

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...hCommand&hl=en

https://itunes.apple.com/app/dashcom...321293183?mt=8

Also a side note for anyone that plans on using an iProduct. The reason all iProducts require a WiFi to OBD adapter is due to Apple not allowing non approved Bluetooth devices to connect to their products, so the work around for App developers is the WiFi interface.

Check it out for yourself, there does appear to be trail versions from the App store, probably features are unlocked once you actually purchase the App.

I will try to check out the Android version here soon.

UPDATE - Windows Phone and Blackberry Apps.

Note, I have not used any of these Apps, just putting this info out there as I run across them.

Windows Phone App (also assume works with tablets as well?)

http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/st...8-27735854493c

Blackberry 10 App - https://appworld.blackberry.com/webs...countrycode=US

So it looks like the apps are working their way into the less mainstream smart phones. So never fear, if you have a smart phone, looks like there is some form of OBDII Scan Tool App.

I received one of these for Christmas. It's a pretty neat tool, doesn't have the data storage/graphing capabilities, but it's a great monitoring tool. I mount mine on the sunglasses tray door, and run the wire under the floor mat.

What is nice is you can set specific threshold alarms for things like Voltage, Temperature and maybe even something like Fuel Trims.

Did you get the standard one or the EX? Currently looking into buying one of these.

+1 for the ELM327 Wifi and OBD Fusion app for the I-phone. The ELM327 w wifi was $20 on ebay and the app is $9.99 on the Apple store. I am trying to pass emission in WI and it let me read codes, clear codes, and now I am monitoring the emissions readiness.

Here's where I purchased on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/251401911438...84.m1439.l2649

JFOJ - I think I need your help! will start another thread with my "story" and status. I no longer have a SES light, but I am getting a warning which may be why I am not fully emissions ready.

Slupe,

Start a new thread, but also keep in mind the Emission Readiness Monitors should usually clear with 2 cold starts and about 15 minutes of highway driving. So expect the Emission Readiness Monitors to clear within about 25 miles as long as you get some highway time on the car as well.

The Evap monitor is usually the last and hardest to clear.

Also check with your state, many will allow 1-2 Emission Readiness Monitors to not be clear as long as the SES/CEL/MIL light is not on and you can pass Emission Inspection.

Did you buy the elm327? If so, what was the name of the vendor you bought it from? I heard there are knockoff ones that don't work properly. Thanks.

Good info jfof. Thank you
