2004 325ci vs 2002 330i

hi guys, im looking to buy used bmw.

i had 323i but crushed it.

im looking at 2002 330i with 140k, price is $5300 transmission changed 20k ago, and engine was replaced at 40k by the dealer, serpentile belt replaced has sports/premium sound, and i think good condition according to previous owner. mtech 1 front and rear, little modified, tein springs, etc

2004 325ci, with 95k, clean, one owner, price is $7000 not much more info, but looks clean and owner said maintained properly, no accident, clean stock car

which one do you guys recommend?

PS. is angel eye application on 2002 330i be similar to 323i (prefacelift)? meaning, do i need to take out the headlight and bake it in oven to install on 2002 330i?

Thank you guys

No you don't have to take out the light and bake it for the 2002 330i but you would have to for the 2004 325ci. As far as which one you should get it all depends on your needs. If you don't need a sedan than the coupe is a nice option. And it has fewer miles which is also a plus.

Go for the 330 if it's mechanically good. That extra half liter makes you smile extra hard when you drive.

The only reason to ever choose a 325 over a 330 would be if the 325 had a manual. That's just my opinion though...

I guess to answer your question accurately we would need some more info. I'm guessing that if you wrecked your last one then you have an insurance check either coming or burning a hole in your pocket. If so how much do you have to spend? How much do you have for maintenance? Do you want a coupe or sedan? Auto or manual?

To be honest I wouldn't buy either of those cars. The 330 seems like it has had issues and was driven hard, hence the trans replacement and the new motor. Also I personally would never buy a 140k mile car unless I was planning on completely overhauling it which I'm going to go out on a limb and say you probably aren't willing to spend $10000 to $20000 doing so. When I say overhauling I mean pretty much restoring it to keep for many many years, not just doing the basics to get by for a few years.

The 325 seems like a decent car, but I wouldn't buy a small motor E46 and I'm always skeptical about a one owner E46 that is right at 100k, the reason being that this is the mileage and age that these cars start to need a ton of refreshing and usually when the guy that bought it new does the math and figures out that he is better off selling it off and buying a new one than spending the $2000 to $5000 to make it right.

Whatever you do just be patient. Figure out what you can afford and if you can't afford to get the right car just yet then wait until you have yourself in a better financial situation and just get some reliable transportation to get you by for a while. Plus that will buy you some time to really figure out what you want. Don't rush it and don't be like every other kid on this site and spend every penny you have on a high mileage small motor car just to get into a BMW again. Do it right or wait until you can.

Based on ur info id go the 325 in a heartbeat

Lower mileage - 1 owner - and no bloody engine or tranny replacements !!!

the 325c sounds safer but the 330 is way sexier
