The day was fantastic!! Best day of my life!

We got married on the TV show 'Dont Tell The Bride', so for those who dont know about it, basically, the groom has to plan the whole wedding from start to finish. I was not allowed to talk to my wife (to be) for 3 weeks during planning and had camera crews around all the time..

I had to pick the wedding dress, choose the venue, church etc.. organise pretty much everything and then some...

I hired a boat to bring us from the church to the hotel, had fire-breathers meet us on the beach. Fire-breathers and drummers walked us from the boat to the hotel doors.... was bloody amazing!!

It will be on Irish tv (RTE 1) in January for anyone who gets RTE on their sky box.... hey, you will even get to see my car (before it went pop) driving around the roads of Ireland.

I don't get to see it until the rest of the world, so very much looking forward to that!

Hey Paul,

Never got the chance to welcome you, been pretty busy planning a wedding, but back to normality here now.. so welcome!

The other guys are a lot more experienced than I am under the bonnet, but if there is anything I can help with, i will certainly try.

Eoin

Re: 318 Owners - Get In Here!!!

Had a proper look at the car yesterday now that all the wedding stuff is over. . It was not the radiator that went at all, was just the expansion tank so should be a quick diy fix, thankfully!

will post pics in a second post below.. lovely british weather!

few problems ive noticed so far that i need help with:

1. the automatic up and Multi Up function isnt working... the multi button drops all windows but will only lift the rear ones! (have tried resetting as seen on a post here but not luck)

2. the drivers window automatically opens everytime i unlock and open the door.. a pain as its now winter especially! and the passengers window doesn't adjust for the roof when i open and close the door. resulting in a gap until i manually push the window inwards.

3. i want to replace the m sport steels with M3 alloys as i love them.. is it a straight swap?

4. im not a fan of wooden trim.. whats the cheapest and easiest way of replacing it all?

any help much appreciated folks, glad to become a member here
Hi Paul, welcome to the forum mate. Ill try to answer a couple of your questions.

1. Sorry no nothing on automatics
2. May be a silly question on my part, but are you purely unlocking or unlocking and holding the button?
3. The alloys should be straight swap, may need to change out the spacers or add a spacer for fitment. I would look on some where like eBay which gives a list of cars and if it fits to be on the safe side.
4. Trim is easy to replace, you can buy the trim sets around 90 and replace or as PO did to mine they Carbon Fibred the trim.

Hope that helps, sorry cant help with the auto side.

Today is a very sad day for me... i have made a hard decision to sell my car, possibly to a breakers yard for parts.
After weighing up the costs of fixing it to a state where she would pass the car test, I realised it was not worth putting the money into it.
2 days ago I bought an Audi A4 1.6l 1997 for 300, and it works, and 300 more and she will pass the car test with flying colors.
My plan now is to get the Audi taxed and tested, save up a few quid, and in the new year sell the audi for a lot more than i paid for it, put that towards the money I save and buy another 318i that actually works!
I will still be a BMW owner at heart, driving an Audi is nice, but its no BMW! so I cant wait to be able to get my next one... but this time I will make sure the car is taxed and tested BEFORE I buy it!
These are the last photos I will ever take of my baby...

Hi guys, mine is a 318i Sedan 2004 model. @ 65K already replaced some parts like, suspension arms, bushings, Tie rods, front shocks, fuel pump & filter, Expansion tank, valve cover & Oil filter gaskets, Brake pads. lately I had a problem with my aircon compressor. Its whinning even thou the aircon is off. Already post this problem here but nobody replied. So I change the tensioner pulley and still sounds the same. Got a small puller and took off the compressor pulley, removed and change clutch bearing. The sound disappears. Bearing is the culprit. Every aircon shops was telling me to change the Aircon compressor. Just imagine how much I saved. Problem now, sometimes the door lock is not working even if I use the remote key. Today it is working. I use Mobile 1 for my engine oil. Engine sound is smooth. When I fill up my gas tank, my fuel gauge will indicate full. After 5kms the needle will go down about 1/4. When it reach the middle or 1/2 full it will stay there until it spend around 20kms. After that it will go down as fast until it reaches around 1/4 to empty. looks like I'm leaking fuel but check fuel lines and no leaks.

Anyone had any experiences with installing Angel eyes? I'm about to order a pair the burning question is CCFL or LED, I've only ever seen CCFL in the flesh so dont know how an LED set compares, Anyone here have any wise words of advice?!?

If you go back a few pages will see some discussion about them.

Right guys, found all the answers to my angel eyes question, definitely prefer the overall glow of CCFL but am gonna plump for LEDs, it seems they are a lot less problematic! I'll post pics before and after the install!

I do have another question. Has anyone had an issue with there OBD2 port? My scanner isnt powering on at all when i switch on the ignition. I've seen it work at the garage but not on mine (C110).

I've look through loads of posts before asking this time but couldnt find a definitive solution/cause.

I just wanted to know if anyone here has ever had this problem, i've check all fuses and all seem fine, although i dont seem to have fuse 43, is this normal?

Any help would be much appreciated guys!

(my new baby)

Not been on for a while, work & family commitments etc. My car now in for repair HG and timing chains gaskets to be replaced. Water pressure was astronomical even at cold and points to HG so easier to get it done than wait for it to completely blow up How is everyone? and welcome to the newer peeps!
