Help please

Hey guys,
My car broke down last week, lost complete power to everything.
I changed my battery and have the power back now but when I am driving and try and put my foot down to accelerate it feels like it looses power.
I have ran the voltage test for the battery and it sits on 12.x when the car is off and at idle it's 14-14.1v but won't go any higher than that when I'm driving.
I thought it should go up to roughly 14.7v
Could you help me figure out what is wrong, is it the alternator?
Thanks guys
