DaveonXTC ! I dun knw where I've been since August coz I have been catching up on this thread just now.

very entertaining and excellent read - and many thanks for sharing your wonderful e46 journey and story with us.

Kudos to you bro for sticking with the project - and it is really a unique unique car you have built and is looking better with each post.

I've spent thousands on my car just to get into stock format - so naturally the price to really get performance out of the vehicle will be high.

And as long as you are having fun in the process - that's the important thing!

My advice would be to keep the car forever if you can - ! Good luck and keep us posted ! Cheers mate!

Stage Five: The story continues

Welcome back folks. And apologies for the tardiness for getting the next stage up. Money and time are always issues.

To begin with, some thank you's are in order. Without the assistance of the following people and businesses, my E46 wouldn't be the car it is today.

First up, Eric E46 coupe. Thank you for the general knowledge you have passed my way. Your offerings of beer, darts and know how have always been greatly appreciated. Thanks mate.

Secondly, Brendan_select. Thanks for not buying my car. Your patience and understanding mean you will always have a special place in my heart.

Thirdly, Davew. Your an absolute champion. Always willing to help out when needed.

Next, Stephen aka Worx. You have built this car, fixed my blunders and given great advice. Even as I write this, the car is with you having the back end sorted. Not only are you a great mechanic, you have become a trusted friend.

Last but not least, Iggy / taki / selien. Your negative comments have really detracted from what was a quality build thread. You're lucky your a good bloke and mate.

Ok. Let's get into it. This is a run down of the mods that have been performed over the past couple of months.

The bonnet: What can I say. Vorsteiner. A quality piece of kit. Fitment and alignment is near perfect. Worx organised the preparation and painting of the hood. Utilising a team of 400 oompa loompas, 52 coats of mystic blue were laid down using hair plucked from the mane of sacred unicorns. The depth of colour is exquisite. Sometimes I think I am starting into pristine Canadian mountain lakes filled with freshwater mermaids.

The rear diffuser: It was colour matched to perfection again by the oompa loompas. It looks great.

Fitment of M3 Exhaust: As previously mentioned in this thread, I was not happy with the note of the exhaust. The decision was made to fit a complete M3 exhaust from headers to exhaust tips. The challenge was to fit the rear muffler. Unfortunately, M3s don't have spare wheel wells as this is wear the muffler sits. So, the decision was made to cut it out and weld in mild steel plating. It always feels good taking to a perfectly good car with an angle grinder and cutting essential parts out. Once the steel plating was in place, the exhaust fitted perfectly. The resulting engine note; Fantastic and substantially better than it was. I love the rasp although those people not in the know tend to think its broken. Little do they know!

Engine and Gearbox Mounts: Fitted by Worx, the new mounts are M3 spec. The old ones simply weren't up to the task of dealing with the extra urge from the supercharger. At 9 years of age, they were due for replacement anyway.

As a result of the above four mods, the look of the car is more aggressive. The engine note crisper and performance has definitely improved. Its nice to know that the engine and transmission are more likely to stay where they are meant to be as well.

Cost of these mods including paint and labour adds an extra $3500 to the money spent.

As mentioned above, the car is currently at Worx in Brunswick. Solid aluminium subframe bushings are being fitted along with solid aluminium diff bushings, full race bushings for the control arms and replacement of all other bushings in the rear end with upgraded units.

That is stage five complete. I expect the car to be back on the road late next week.

Constructive comments are more than welcome.
