Actually today I could not get 80lbs DBs up on bench press. I usually do 80lbs for 5-6 reps. But my chest was still sore from the last workout.

It was a good day regardless. The gym was packed, I guess people wanna burn off the turkey they ate.

Anything more than like 2 reps for squats leaves me breathing heavy and sweating lol

High reps squats or lunges are the most exhausting exercises for me. I deadlifted twice my weight and did not even sweat or breath heavy. I think we train for strength mostly, we need to train for endurance as well with high reps. That's why I do heavy low reps with front squats, high reps low weights with back squats.

Progress pic @ 163lbs. Good gains since I increased my intake. Online calculators were about 600-800 calories short for me. Now on rest days 2300-2500cal, on lifting days 3500-4000. The gains have been mostly muscle, little fat, which surprised me. If I start doing cardio things will be even better, but I hate freaking cardio. Was 165lbs on the scale, subtracted 2lbs for water and food weight.

Still pretty lean but looking good. I think some areas to work on would be shoulder width and traps. Mine have come in a lot more in the last 5 months or so and it makes you look a lot bigger.

Hate to say this, but you need to change your pec routines. Those db moves have started to give you man boobs. Never do decline presses. Just incline and flat. The rest it's looking good but solly is right about traps and shoulders as well.

You're right, shoulders are my weakest point. I don't do traps that often (figured DLs would work them out enough) but will focus on them.

What do you suggest for increasing shoulder width? Traps? Page 36 of this thread has my complete current routine at the end.

I don't do decline presses. Just DB presses incline and flat, flyes, weighted dips and push-ups. Man boobs? The two parts I get compliments about at bars the most (from women and gay guys lol) are my pecs and glutes.

What do you do for traps?
My shoulder routine mostly focuses on seated db presses, straight arm db shoulder flies (front and side), bb front straight arm shoulder fly and occasionally bb oh press.

My trap routine is done along with back day but movements that hit my traps best seem to be shrugs (db works better, shoulders back more like you're puffing your chest, and try to raise shoulders into ears) and bent arm db back fly.

What I've noticed is that how i contract the muscle on movements for back is extremely important, more so than other muscle groups. There's other back exercises that i do that hit the traps a bit, but those are the trap focused lifts i like.

Re: Z00 progress thread

I used to like behind the back, bb shrugs for my traps too, but my butt has gotten too big and it gets in the way making the movement difficult.

What do you do for traps?
I'm no expert in aesthetics but these are the things I've done that I think are affecting my shoulders and or traps
-Barbell overhead press, push press, and push jerks
-Hand stand push ups, ring push ups, regular push ups (chest to floor)
-Cleans (probably one of the best for traps), Deadlifts, barbell shrugs, ring rows, kettlebell swings.

I don't do any isolation movements for shoulders and probably hit my shoulders in some form about 3 times per week. It seems like a lot of CrossFit style training is very heavy on the shoulders.

The things that I find that hit my year delts the most, what I feel anyway, is high rep deadlifts from holding on to the bar so long, and ring rows from the squeeze at the top.

It has to be the angle light is hitting then. Do the side raises for the shoulders, they help me a lot (my shoulders are narrow by genetics).

I do them. Seem to work great, just gotta make sure the weight is heavy. I do shrugs with the BB both in front and behind, but I prefer behind the back. Seem to isolate better.

maybe I did them wrong. I would think the bar would be below the butt by maybe it isn't.
