Sportbike riders

Because I'm a sport bike guy and that's the thread I wanted to make. I don't really care for cruisers, as IMO cruiser and Harley owners tend to have a different mindset to riding. So our talks of dragging knee and such is usually lost on them. That's why it's not a general motorcycle thread.

To each their own.

I myself however, give the same props to anybody out on any two wheels.

Well, I might somewhat disagree with you here. Thats a rather generalizing and stereotypical statement. Ever been to any motorcycle (course) racing circuits? Next time you are, take a count of how many cruiser there are in the parking lot.

Regards.

Been doing track days since 09.
Most of the guys I meet don't own cruisers.
That said, of all them cruisers that are in the parking lot, how many of them have or ride a motorcycle on track.

I know a lot of guys that have cruisers.
Of all the ones I know, maybe 20% have a sport bike and even less track or race a sport bike.

If I had the money I'd totally own a cruiser too. For me, the sportbike is more in line with what I want out of a bike (right now)

Yours is freaking gorgeous!

I track raced back in the early '80s and even did a short season as a factory rider for Yamaha.

Ill assume this is rhetorical...Ill agree that *most* cruiser riders do not track race.

Im actually surprised your number is that high. Around here, 95+% of cruiser riders only have one bike. In fact, its my observation that *most* ALL riders in Ohio, have only one bike. Perhaps this data is geography related, as I see you are from NC which I am certain has a larger and longer riding season than Ohio.

Perhaps age plays a part too. Im 52, but when I was young it was sportbike, sportbike, sportbike. While I did have a few "standards" and rice cruisers, I was 47 when the Night Rod styling bug caught mt eye, and knew I had to have it, so Im not actually a "Harley Lifer" by any means.

Oh well, like I said, props to everybody getting bugs in their teeth on two wheels, and ride safe.

Regards.

Thanks Rush. I will admit, its nice having the two different "ride styles". A long, low, loud, and heavy cruiser that is easily customized to make your own, and a capable sportbike for fun in the twistys.

And while I love my Gixxer, I do find these cookie-cutter rice rockets rather bland and boring to look at. Dont get me wrong, they are a tool, and work VERY well, its just around here, there seems to be one in every driveway.

Nice thread, and nice chat. Im now out to the garage to put brakes on the Nissan. Bye.

It's -52 here and a couple club members went for a ride just to ride on the coldest day.

I've been wanting to ride the dragon for a long time. I think I'm going to finally take a trip there this summer.

I used to want to ride it a lot. Now, not so much. I've net a few people that've crashed on it. I dunno. Rather spend that money on a track day.

Sand, gravel, leafs, other cars, and a long drop off are good reasons to not ride like that on the dragon.

I sure as hell would not ride it like the 'slayer'.. however I'd love to cruise down there... just a breath taking road.
