Good job, Jenny

Apparently, her kid doesn't have autism. Think this will change her mind about vaccinations?

And she is also reversing her initial position that the MMR shots caused Evan's autism. Jenny now says she wants vaccinations better researched - rather than getting rid of them altogether, as she previously promoted. And though her son may never have had autism, Jenny insists, "I'll continue to be the voice" of the disorder.

Good job, Jenny

I get all my medical advice from ex playmates instead of doctors.

For some reason, many people agree with this sentiment.

No, but it's her fault for preaching stuff that's been contradicted by the professional medical community.

I don't think all autism is caused by the shots, but I am very sure some of it is,
When i got my vaccination in the military had a very bad ride from the nickle content in one of them..

The number of kids diagnosed, is out of proportion with population,, makes ya wonder..

Like the stupid chicken pox vaccine. Why vaccinate for a NON life threatening disease?

Meh,, I'm too old to care and my kids made it past the danger zone so I'll let someone else taunt that dragon..

Could it be that every kid with any remote chance is being diagnosed with it now? Kinda like depression in adults?

No, couldn't be that. Maybe it is because they changed the definition of what one considers autism, and that changed the number of kids being diagnosed.

No, it's the shots. It is the vaccinations that cause it. One paper come out that mothers around the globe attach themselves to, and it starts an epidemic of stupid parents not doing the research. Then, years later, the "study" is retracted.

Still no... Gotta be the shots.

Varicella-Zoster (Chicken pox) does kill. It is dangerous for newborns with a mortality rate of 30%. Also to the immunocompromised with a 20% mortality rate, infecting and damaging the heart, liver, lungs and brain. It leads to secondary complications that can include infections from Strep. pyogenes that lead to pneumonia in adults. Other individuals at risk include, people with cancer, aids, and recent organ transplants.

Before varicella vaccinations there were 10,000 hospitalizations, and roughly 100-150 deaths per year, with 4 million untreated cases. Luckily the strains were mostly mild.

Furthermore, the same virus (Varicella-Zoster) is a latent disease. Which is responsible for shingles. The virus remains in the sensory nerves and may become reactivated. This commonly causes intense pain along the dermatones of the affected individual along with a telltale rash along the same dermatone. I don't remember the numbers of occurrence but it's high something like 2/3 will experience at least one outbreak.

Not to mention the potential development of Reye's syndrome which also as a mortality rate of 30% but affects individuals commonly up to the age of 15.

Varicella-zoster has only one reservoir, which is humans, making it a prime target for eradication. But there are people who will remain carriers because the vaccination didn't come out until 95. Even still there are those select few who continue to neglect vaccinations because they are stupid.

I'd rather my kids potentially get polio and whooping cough than potentially get autism.

I haven't really followed her autism/vaccine campaign in any detail. Without knowing what the initial diagnosis was, how it was communicated and so on, it's hard to know exactly what happened. It could be there was a misdiagnosis (or several). It could be that an autism diagnosis was the most accurate one at the time with the info that was available, but it turned out to be incorrect in the long run. Or it could be that autism was floated as a possibility, and she took off with it and started a "no way I could have an imperfect kid, this must be vaccines that did this to him" arc.

Furthermore, one of the linked articles states:

Quote:
... suggests Evan suffers from Landau-Kleffner syndrome, a rare childhood neurological disorder that can also result in speech impairment and possible long-term neurological damage.
"Suggests" is not exactly a definitive scientific term.

We need a lot more info in order to determine whose "fault" it is.

But the fact remains that she used her fame to champion a scientifically shaky position. Of course, the "fault" there lies with the people that believed her just because she's famous.

She (and everyone that thinks like her) are idiots. The UK doctor that came up with that theory openly admitted that he made the entire thing up....he did get filthy rich though.

Interesting article on the subject....

Cliffs....woman was raised by a hippie antivaccination mom and caught ALL THREE diseases.
