That's just fine.

Just bolt the #61904 E ON TOP OF YOUR CARPET, you haven't hurt anything, and it's totally reversible when you sell your Bimmer.

Imagine these pictures Without the cross bar. It looks great, adds a ton of safety, and the rear seat still has 100% function.

"Autopower Roll Cage
Street Roll Bar #61904 E $489 plus figure about $150 to ship it.

Good luck.

It's not my E46, but my E92. It's a bimmer, so why not...

^ Real nice work, looks good.

Have you considered a "Low" front bar (door bar) that would come from the main hoop & go forward to the foot box. Something that wouldn't impede you getting in & out of your Bimmer.

I like your seats, I've considered something like those for my street Bimmer (330Ci), but I know I'll loose some comfort.

Thanks!

I never considered a door bar. The way you put it though, I do kinda see how it could work without getting too much in the way. I don't daily the car in any way so it could be workable for my situation to do something like that. I have the car at a shop right now, but I'll look at that when I go to pick it up tomorrow. M3 GT4 aero parts from Germany are going on the car next week.

Honestly, I love the seats. I personally find them more comfortable than the stock seats. That's saying quite a bit too, because the stock seats in my E92 are leagues better than the stock seats in my E46. I just find that I generally end up moving around in my stock seats and never getting comfortable. There is never any question about how you're going to sit posture-wise in a Recaro Profi. If you can fit into a Profi then you are probably fit enough that you can comfortably use your arms to get in and out of the car with relative ease. Girlfriends/Wives will never be too pleased though

I had a little fun with a customer's 535 last month. I fabbed up a cage and stuff for him in his previous 535 but it was rolled and totaled in a Chump Race at "The Ridge" in Shelton Wa. in Aug. Actually the first ever roll over since its opening. See link for the Roll Over. http://3zracing.com/3zRacing/Ridge_2013.html It's the video on the right. Second driver rolled it on his very first lap between turn 2/3. Kind of a a$$ hat move, least do a complete lap before you roll car.

I decided to relocated the driver's side B pillar back 10 inches to facilitate door bars plus I always wanted to try it. Since it is a Chump Car I did not have to worry so much about rules or hurting someones feeling. I cut the rear door 10" and added it to the drivers door. Both doors still work and I must say it actually looks better with a long front door. Yea I left the passenger side stock. Catches some people of guard.

Also to keep this car from rolling over I bead rolled a Sun Roof cover, something fun to do.

Here is the car at last weeks Chump Race in Portland.

Sorry, I forgot to take finished pictures of the cage/door bars. Kind of in a rush to get the car done and to Dynasport for the engine install. It will be back in a couple of weeks and I will update.

I finally got time to cage my E46, this is after repairing horrible subframe failure.

Since the failure was so bad i decided to tie the subframe into the cage. Those vertical studs are welded straight to the thread section of the mount in the unibody. I may even get some longer bolts to come all the way up through. Overkill? maybe

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. Do you mean that you need someone local to your location to build / install a cage ?

Or do you mean you'd like recommendations on a company that can prefab a cage for your application & ship it to you ?

Technically, there's already a bar in there. You just have to either tie it into your cage, or fabricate a new one in the same place. This will depend on what your sanctioning body requires, but I put a new one on my 330Ci project:

So yes, it is possible to keep the HVAC module. But...and this is a big but....most rules require the bar to be welded in...and the HVAC sits right under it....so once you put the bart in, the HVAC is there until you either cut the bar out....or burn the car to the ground.
