SHOT Show 2014 Thread

With SHOT Show coming up, I figured we need our own thread dedicated to it.

Not sure what all is coming out this year. So far, the G41 and G42 are making an appearance. I have no need for the G41, but it's nice to see that they created a Tactical/Practical .45. I'm pretty unhappy with the G42 though. I'm glad that they finally made the single-stack ultra compact pistol, but why it was done in .380 is beyond me. The gun is about the same size as the M&P Shield, which is 9mm. I'm hoping to see a G43 come out in 9mm, but we'll see...

Also, Desert Tech (formerly Desert Tactical Arms) has something exciting coming. For those unfamiliar, DTA/DT recently made news when it was announced that they rejected a $15M contract to supply rifles to the Pakistani military out of concern that the rifles could be used against American military personnel. They stood on principle about only supporting America, and true American allies. The president, Nick Young, is very well known in the long range precision community. He was rather quiet about the decision and only announced it on Facebook at a notice to followers. It has since gone viral in the gun world.
Anywhoo... word is that they have a semi-auto in the works. It appears that it may be a bullpup rifle with a forward ejecting design similar to the FN F2000, and will be precision oriented. From the leaked photos, it appears to have the modular barrel-change capability that they're known for. Looks like it will likely be a 5.56 type design, so I'm guessing it'll be modular between 5.56, 6.8SPC, .300BLK, and two others like maybe 7.62x39, 5.45x39 or 6.5 Grendel. Who knows...
I really hope it has 7.62x51 and similar capability, but I'm not sure we'll be that lucky. I really want a 7.62 auto rifle, and having one from DT would be great. Who knows- maybe they'll surprise us.

The only other nugget that I've found is that Samson will be unveiling a Keymod handguard.

Okay, DesertTech is seriously on my radar now. I'm not a big bullpup fan, but the prospect of what DesertTech is possibly doing is getting me excited. A multi-caliber bullpup is pretty sweet.
I would buy it in an instant if it were 7.62x51/.308 based.

Today Desert Tech (formerly Desert Tactical) announced a brand new multi-caliber bullpup rifle dubbed the Micro Dynamic Rifle (MDR). The MDR converts between calibers without tools and, get this, it maintains zero between calibers with the iron sights. It uses a patent pending forward ejection system giving it the ability to kick spent cases forward of the shooter thus allowing easy transitions from shoulder to shoulder. It’s claimed the rifle is fully ambidextrous without any requirement to modify the rifle for either right or left hand use.

It has an overall length of 26″ (or 20″ with a NFA 10.5″ barrel) and a weight of 7.5lbs.

They don’t mention what calibers will be available, so I’m very excited to see what will be offered. Hopefully there will be multiple calibers available when the rifle hits the market.

The price is yet to be announced but I plan on getting as much information about this exciting new product at SHOT Show next week. Stay tuned for more information.

Knowing them, anywhere from $3000-4500. No price listed yet.

Vortex now has the Razor HD GenII series. Key features:
6x erector
new EBR "C" reticle with holdover tree (similar to Premier Reticles GenII XR design)
10mrad/25moa per revolution windage/elevation turrets
low profile locking turrets
34mm main tube
illumination control on parallax adjustment

Basically, it's everything that we wished GenI was. Even better, there are two magnifications to supplement the already available 1-6x24:
3-18x50 -- MSRP $2999
4.5-27x56 -- MSRP $2599
Available summer 2014

Interesting stuff from HK.

Apparently they are releasing:

Commerical MP5
SBR MR556
G36 type rifle made in the US and taking standard mags
p30 subcompact.

But, they won't be releasing a commercial MP7, at least not in the awesome caliber. Umarex might be releasing a .22 licensed version of it.

Kinda curious to see what a commerical MP5 is...I'm still in the hunt for an Fleming sear, so maybe this will make a good host weapon.

Well, you describe an HK94 I think. Those were commercially available. 16 inch carbine that looks like an mp5.

I'm gussing that when they say commercial MP5, they mean it will literally be a semi-auto variant of the mp5. That would be an SBR with the standard 8 or whatever inch barrel. And that would also be totally badass, assuming it can accept a full auto trigger pack. Would certainly make host weapons for autosears easier to find and cheaper to purchase...

I am confident in seeing the P30, but the other stuff will be hard to come by and way overpriced. I have a good friend who's a cop in a major agency and made a contact at HK during SHOT Show 2013. Guy told my buddy that he'd be able to get him an MR556A1 quickly for LE price. One year later and my buddy just bought one commercially at a gun store. HK is the only company I know that can give all of their customers the middle finger and be worshiped for it.

A commercial MP5 would be pretty neat. I've really been thinking about taking a spare lower and making a dedicated suppressed 9mm SBR out of it.
