Headlight buld out?

I have my left headlight xenon bulb that keeps going out. Then randomly ill turn on my car and it will be on (with no discoloration). What are the ways that I can troubleshoot the bulb to see if I can fix it before buying an expensive bulb? Thanks

Swap bulbs between headlights. If the problem follows the bulb, that's the problem. If nothing changes, try swapping ballasts. If the problem follows, that's the problem. If neither of these helps, change that ignitor, it's most likely the culprit.

If you do find that you need a bulb, don't go to the dealer. Also replace both at the same time. I'm running Phillips 85122 right now from Amazon. $45 each. $100+ each at the dealer.

Mine was a short in the ground wire on the driver side xenon headlamp. Local mechanic found it, taped and grounded it and has been fine for about 3 years!!!
