I recommend the mini morimotos d2s should be an easier swap. The fxr was good too, I sold my old ones to someone on here and he installed it without any issues but he was already halogen lol so It makes things easier

noob alert!

bought my first e46 330ci, have a million codes for CEL, have changed pretty much every thing (CCV, VCG, SJP, FP, Fuel filter, DISA, vacuum lines, OFHG), currently still throwing a lean bank 1 and lean bank 2 code

seems doubtful that it would be both o2 sensors, i am leaning towards a faulty maf

Is there any way to check/test a maf? also, how can i tell if the maf is an original oem part, there is no part # anywhere on it.

Thanks
Art

sup art, i'm sure there are other members on here who would be glad to let you test out there MAF's. Those lean bank codes are notorious man, it could be almost anything. My last friend got lucky, I replaced almost everything, and it went away.

Have you checked the bottom of your intake boot? Don't overlook the small easy things.

@e46cslsedan, i don't work on bikes much anymore, and i don't own a dyno.

For of you who do not know, I picked up a subaru wrx track car from a good friend of mine. For some odd reason it had a RS2.5 engine in it, therefore I had to swap everything out.

New engine I picked up!

I had to remove the entire dashboard and replace the harness.

Had a couple friends & beers to clean out the engine bay it was absolutely filthy, no before pics sorry. Just imagine axle grease in the entire engine bay.

New engine is in, forgot to mention it's a EJ255 with a EJ205 head. I call it a frankenstein, but I guess the subie scene refers it to as a hybrid swap.

More updates soon, just got a new manifold and wiring harness. Only thing I'm missing is ECU, Up pipe, Header, Downpipe and Intake. Then my swap is done

Got new motor mounts, gaskets, thermostat, and all that good stuff. Took me 2 hours to get the engine out, if it was plug and play I would have had the swap running in less then 4 hours lol. Too bad I'm waiting on random parts.

Sup guys! I just bought a 325CI and am pleasantly surprised to see a thread like this.

Hey choleaoum, what would you charge for a basic inspection/smoke test? I just smogged the car and now it's throwing some lean codes (P0171 & P0174) - might that of happened from being on that smog dyno? I deleted those codes twice now, so we'll see if they come back. Anyways the car drives amazing and there doesn't seem to be any problems, but I'd feel better if an expert could look at the car too. After owning this car for 1 week now, all I can say is WOW I love this car! It's also pretty cool to see a big SoCal community around it too.

Thanks!

I don't really install headers anymore, it takes several hours and people usually buy the cheap eBay ones so they don't fit properly and requires welding.

@firehawk, I don't have a smoke testing machine although I do want one lol. But those codes are the most mysterious codes ever. Sometimes caused by leaking valve covers, leaking ofhg, bad o2 sensors, bad ccv, and etc. The list goes on lol. PM Me and we can talk more.
