OEM Headunit Question

First Post, and I'm not sure if this is the right place, but I've got an '01 325i.
I've done several searches for this info, but got a little overwhelmed on the amount of stuff I found...

I've added a CD changer and would like to ALSO add an auxiliary input. I understand that my current headunit cannot do this, but have found another for sale ($50) and am trying to make sure it will work for this before purchasing.

Here's the details:

Also, I've found details on having the headunit play MP3's - are there also specific CD Changers with this capability?

EDIT: Photos were way too big.

Thanks!

According to this guide ( http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...y-MP3-Data-CDs! ) the unit in the picture will not accept an aux input cable.

Thanks, I've read that anything after 09/02 (Sept 2002) is Aux Capable. Can anyone confirm which of these is correct?

if you want to add an aux input to a system that has a cd changer just put a switch in the audio wires between the CD changer and the HU. The HU will keep playing on "CD changer" mode but you will be playing your aux into it. If you want to see what I'm talking about remove the 6 pin connector from your CD changer (leave the 3 pin). Feed a line level audio source into the 6 pin connector (yes some special wiring required) and you'll be listining to the source you are feeding into the wire.
