For all you M54 guys....

I've been in contact with Todd from Riot Racing. They are going to start developing a big bore throttle body option for the M54B30. They anticipate boring this a bit larger than Dinans (intake manifold port 72mm, their goal is 71-71.5mm).

You can e-mail them for any additional questions or info at: info@westcoastriots.com . They need at least 5, $100 deposits, of which 3 are already paid. So let's support them and get this thing rolling!

Waste of money unless you're running a lot of forced induction.

Not going to lie. Was in contact with them for a month getting this going. Still have all the emails. But my work load for way to busy and they wanted me to find out a lot of info on my end. Not that the task was hard just have had zero time. Glad someone else got this going. Is he still shooting for $350? Might get into contact again and send me deposit.

I'm down to make a deposit on this. What I am wondering now is what the most restrictive part on the stock intake is? I know my buddies' e36 picked up some top end power when he swapped on an M50 manifold, I'm wondering if the M54 manifold is the most restrictive part or not.

And honestly in the department of the throttle body, whats slowing me down the most is the laggy throttle response. If the e46 is going to lag like it has a turbo it might as well!!! hahahaha.

IIRC stock TB bore is 68mm, Dinan is 70. i think to really take advantage of this maybe some headwork would be suggested, but I'm not a pro. I have a VAC stage 3 head (not yet installed) so naturally I wanted to go BBTB to really make the hardware shine. Last I knew, they were still aiming for $350.

also, i've seen that some people may bore the IM port. however, that doesnt necessarily mean TB could safely be bored larger than the 71.5ish.

You should try calling VAC or someone else with race M54 experience to get the inside scoop

Defiantly post what kind of gains you get from the cylinder head, I've wondered about the VAC heads for some time.

Waste of money if you're going to retain the M54 manifold.

Throttle body boring is a waste of money as well. The stock 330i TB is more than big enough for the power an M54 can make with bolt-ons.
