VERY Sluggish and hard to shift. HELP

I've done a bit of searching and have yet to find a solution for this problem. Hopefully someone will know what's going on. I have a 2000 323ci manual with just under 268k. Today, out of the blue, I hear a short buzzing sound from the rear, it's hard to shift especially into reverse and it's extremely sluggish. And by sluggish I mean I'm at 3500 rpm and my top speed is around 50 mph. A new factory clutch was put in less than 2 years ago. I can't see that being the issue but I can't rule it out. I've put so much money into her over the past month that, if this is major, it may be time to put a bullet in her. I'm desperate for help.

Thanks
