Still looking around for the right car. Current short list is an Acura TL/TL-S or Acura TSX. Also thought about the Honda Pilot but we'll see.

When I was scouting new vehicles, I was looking heavily at AWD and tried out the TL SH-AWD. That thing was a very smooth, comfortable and classy car. It also had some decent balls. I didn't really dig it because it still had some noticeable torque-steer off the line since it's front-wheel biased. It was also a very numb ride compared to what I would get with a BMW, Cadillac or Audi. Still, a pretty outstanding car.
This is what I looked at (in order of how it ranked overall):

1. BMW F30 328i M Sport
2. Cadillac ATS 2.0 AWD
3. Audi B8 S4 (pre-owned)
4. Audi A4
5. Acura TL SH-AWD
6. Lexus IS350 F-Sport AWD
7. Mercedes-Benz Sport C300 4MATIC
8. Volvo S60 T6 R-Design
9. Infiniti G37x
10. Volkswagen CC VR6 4MOTION
11. Ford Fusion Titanium AWD
12. MINI Countryman

AWD isn't a huge deal for me anymore, I bought a Ford Expedition two years ago that just itches to go play in the snow on the days it's needed. I was looking to get a used car, not a new one just to keep the cost down and then buy a dedicated sports car later on. Right now I have my eye on, and plan to buy, a 2008 Acura TL Type S. They are far more hardcore than the standard cars, stiffer suspension, more power, standard nav, all options, rare to find, etc... Yes, it comes with torque steer but it's pretty well handled and it makes an awesome cruiser to blast down the highway with. It's by no means a race car or even as good in the twisties as the E46 but for what I need it for, it'll do awesome and not cost me an arm and a leg to maintain it.

Thanks for your list though, you're a brave man to have so many Audis, VW's, and Volvos on there.

Just to follow up, I bought the 2008 TL Type S. Love the car, lots of power, lots of fun, lots of room, and lots of cool tech to play with.

Anybody know of any good shops in the twin cities that will install aftermarket parts? I am semi new in the area and have a 330ci, and am not too skilled at DIY jobs, but still want to take care of my car. Looking to redo my whole suspension in the next couple of months going into summer, and need to find a trustworthy shop.

I know it's been a while but I still really miss First Gear Garage in Eden Prairie. That place was the best. I was learning so much about maintaining my car. It was so easy! I really hope something like it pops up again soon.

High insurance costs and low customer volume I think. I used their shop almost a dozen times my self.

I'm pretty sure something else happened. They stated that they were in fact making a lot of money. Might have been insurance or other things. It's a pity either way, that place was great. Maybe a bunch of us should get together and start up another place.

I work at the big medical device manufacture right off 694 and central, but live north of the cities.

Medtronics? I grew up and graduated from Fridley. Lived in Blaine, Andover and Ham Lake before up to 15 years ago when I moved to Michigan for a job transfer. Still go back to Fridley for visits every year.

Thanks Sam, it is such a common mistake that I don't even notice it anymore.

Haha, it drives me nuts and I don't even work there. There were a ton of people who called it "St. Judes" when I worked there and that even drove me up the wall. Even worse were the ones who thought it was the hospital.
