Nikon doing away with RAW

Nikon is doing away with RAW in all consumer end DSLR's in the future. So based on the current lineup the D610 and below would have no option to shoot RAW what so ever. The Nikon D800 and D4s which are the top of the line models would continue to have RAW as an option.

Yeah I thought it was a weird rant. But it would be crazy for Nikon to do that. (if its true)

I'm a ways off from replacing my D80 for a variety of reasons.

And I'm not sure how seriously to a youtube video posted by a guy that just says "the info wasn't supposed to come to me".

But if it turns out to be true (a way to differentiate the prosumer stuff from the pro stuff?), that would be disappointing. My underwater stuff benefits greatly from shooting in RAW.

My D70 has RAW and it super useful for high ISO stuff where I intend to post trip process.

Not the highest resolution camera but its very consistent. SO I keep flogging it down the road..
