What type of races, just road race (5k, 10k, etc)?

If this is the case you also need to incorporate running into your workouts, your body needs to be conditioned to run, otherwise it can lead to stress fractures, shin splints, knee/hip problems etc.

All in all whole running is good for your cardiovascular health it is hell on your body otherwise.

I used to be a runner in high school and my knees are shot because of it.

My Ride: is totaled

I'm pretty sure this is what samdoe is picturing in his mind by picking insanity
Lose the fat in a short period of time
I was doing p90x but close enough
High intensity cardio based work out of any kind + proper diet = fast fat loss

And there was no yoyo effect for over a year even though I did not continue to workout or stick to such a strict diet
But it all fell apart when I started a job and ate crappy food everyday

Strictly heavy bench/squat/press/deadlift & bodyweight exercises for 3-5 reps.

Biggest factor? Diet & Adherence. They calculated their maintenance calories, ate between 0-500 calorie deficit. They ate at least 1g of protein per pound of lean body weight, kept fat within 0.4 - 0.6g per lb of lean body weight, and filled in the remaining calories with carbs. They also adhered to the plan for the most part. Most of them ate 2-3 meals max a day, and trained 3 days a week.

Most of them got stronger while cutting, and all of them cut significant body fat in 3 months.

The media / general public teaches you your entire life that you need to beat yourself up, and that dieting should be painful in order to work. The proof just isn't there.
FWIW, you're also quoting the media. There are numerous other things with results for various other methods of getting the same results. It's obviously possible to do it this way but there's no cardio conditioning at all.

Also, all of the "before" pictures are in far better shape than I'm in now. Round isn't the shape I want.

I used to play soccer in high school and intramural in college so yeah, I know it's hell on the body. My goal is to do a half marathon once in my life but I don't plan on distance running for extended periods of time. I really want to do the sprint triathlon and see where that takes me. I feel like the more common ones will be the 5k and 10k races.

This is what I'm looking for. I'm probably a little bigger than you were in your day 1 and my goal is to have your final picture.

Ok but be sure to train for these races, I used to play soccer as well and running around on a grass field for a couple hours is a lot different than running on pavement for 3-13 miles.

CF overload ITT lol

I do agree though with the message trying to be conveyed. Drop the insanity BS, Focus on dialing in your diet, and get yourself into a strength based workout with conditioning for the best fat loss results... Notice I said fat-loss and not weight-loss
