Airbag Warning Light

Hi there, not a massive thing but i have had the air bag warning light on my dash now since i bought the car. I did a bit of searching on possible cures for this at the time but to no avail.

I was told that i needed someone with a specific computer (cant remember the name) to look at the fault and possible diaganose/reset the light. I live in Hampshire and there was nobody local who could do this, (without paying a fortune to the stealer) however for the next week i am up in Doncaster (S.Yorks) seeing my parents and i was wondering if anybody local would be able to help/point me in the right direction.

Thank you for reading,

airbag warning

hi, dont know if this will help you but i have similar problem with ghost lights on my 316. I traced a guy on piston heads who resets alarm lights and does a few other tricks like automatically closes windows when you lock doors if not already set up. I think hes down south so too far from me. If you are sure that it is not a genuine issue with the air bag maybe he can help. It was 20 per alarm when i looked. Cant remember the name but number is 07584661603. Hope it helps.

have you checked wires under seat as that can throw up light if loose.

It's normally something to do with passenger seat occupancy sensor which you can get a bypass kit for. Sometimes the plugs underneath seats get poor connections over time. Just need a clean. You can by a SRS reset tool off eBay for about 40 which is what it costs to have it reset at garage. If you buy the tool though you have it for the future, as the airbag light will keep coming on over time.

Ask your local dealer. Mine was sorted by mine for free. Worth asking the question

Sounds like this could be the seat occupancy sensor. you can bypass it at a cost of roughly 2.00 with parts from Maplin in uk or Radioshack in US.

<<video on how to do the fix
