Welcome to the forum mate, I use Euro for some parts, have used their water pump in last change and thermostat and that's been good so far...touch wood! The belt you are looking for is the "Drive Belt" Of course if your changing water pump i giess you will do a coolant change at same time! Probably worth Oil and Filter change too, unless you know last change date. Have fun

The thermostat is baught in the housing aswell ? Isit worth replacing the expansion tank ? I been doing a lot of reading on the e46 thanks for ur time replying mate

Real OEM shows one, for yours see here if you take a peak you will be able to determine what you need, mine shows two, but not looked in a while, also check tensioners just to be on the safe side.

That's correct thermostat comes with housing, its a all in one unit, expansion tank would be a good swap out if your doing a full coolant swap too, yes they are prone to just failing, mine did recently a 5 inch hairline crack was found in it, and that had only been on car 8 months, however if your going down that road, I personally while coolant out would check all hoses too, save redoing it 2-3 months down the line if issues, but your eradicating them before they appear if you get my drift Coolant is the biggest thing on these cars and tons and tons of posts about it, Pre-emptive strike saves stress lol

I have the 318i 1.9 2000 model (pre face) and pretty much swapped a lot out now HG/WP/Tensioners/Rad/Thermo/Timing/Tappets/Hoses and so on the list is endless

I would try spark plugs first if a little sputter, fuel would be more under load in my thinking, not 100% sure though. Start at cheapest option and work through.

Yeah here is a couple of mine.

For speed its pants, im used to the 2.5 V6 i had before (Mondeo) my next though is a 330D Tourer which i am currently looking for, have a little one and need space lol. On last oil change i used 10/40 as the 5/30 seemed to just burn like hell and now runs a lot smother but she has 128k on the clock, with yours being 70k i would stick to the recommended for now mate.

Just had the timing chain tensioner changed recently, i do some bits myself, however running a business I don't get time to fiddle so the more intricate work goes to a friend who is a mechanic.
