Tommy: I'm having issues with this unit regarding the navigation. I'm using copilot live, which I use on my D99. However its really glitchy. I find that I have to restart the whole radio to get it to work properly, and it tends to interfere with the aux in and ipod and even radio. I disabled the sound in copilot with the hope that it would resolve the problem, but it hasn't. Is there any solution for this?

Patton323I: What version of CoPilot are you using? Sometimes different versions works better then others. Email me at tommy@avinusa.com and I will help you out.

Hi Tommy,
If I already have an old dynavin unit installed (from 2011) can I just swap it out directly with the wires I have installed for the dynavin? In other words, can I pretty much hot-swap the units? Or is there different wiring required?

jir224: The Avant-2 does use different connectors then that of the Dynavin unit. The install swap should be fairly easy as it would only be removing the Dynavin connectors and replacing it with the AVIN.

Tommy since the pandora apk file that i have works on every android phone ive tried ( and is stable )..is there a way to get it to work on the radio? I would really like to get this to work as it has unlimited skips and no commercials. For some odd reason only on the radio it will keep closing.

Also i have the backup camera installed but the picture has lines that are fuzzy that start from the bottom and work their way up. Ive checked all connections and all seem fine. Ive attached pictures. These lines just started happening out of no wherem. Parked the car in the garage one day and all was fine. Yestetday started the car up and put it in reverse and thats what i saw. It only happens when using the rear camera and when being in reverse. Even if the car is not running by on at the ignitiin for accessories, i get the the same.

Just an idea to test if it is the camera or the connection (as I have one and don't see that issue): If your dash is still open, plug the camera into a laptop or tablet if you have one. It is a USB camera and can operate directly that way, and you can see if you experience similar distortion there.

On Pandora: I have it running on my deck? I am confused.. I downloaded it from the Play store and it works fine.

Everything is closed back up but i will have to reopen things soon to hook up something else. I will try what u recommend. Like i said though...it was working fine until yesterday when i started the car and saw that.

As for the pandora. Its an older apk file that is free and allows for unlimited skips and commercial free. You cant download this from the play store. I installed it fine but it keeps shutting down at the pandora log in screen. I cant understand why it isnt working on the radio when ive tried it on many other android phone with NO issues at all.

On a separate topic i would suggest that Avin really look into bringing the unit to the 4.4.x Android versions. Jelly bean is too old and its performance is not the best.
I keep reading that the Naval unit has the latest version and the unit i believe came around the same time as Avin

The biggest issue I see with going to 4.4.x is the fact that google has locked down the SD card.

Is the home screen customizable? Are different themes able to be made?

The only issue is with the Harmon Kardon amp - when there is no sound coming through the system (radio off etc) there is a small amount of hiss and static present, even when the system is muted. If you turn the sound up it becomes quite audible.

The guy at the pro audio installation said this is because of the HK sound, the new AVIN unit doesn't have the hardware to suppress the noise when there is no active audio, where as the factory one did.

When driving, you don't notice it at all. That's the only issue I have with it.

However, when music is playing it's a non issue, it sounds awesome.

Cheers,

G
Any update on this? Anyone else have this issue? Really close to pulling the trigger especially with the sale going on...

Yes I have static issues also. Though only during silent parts.

The OP is right about the cause of the issue and the lack of hardware support in the avin to suppress the static. Only affect HK amps. Apparently you can install a LOC adapter to reduce pre amp signal to the amp which should get rid or reduce the noise.

How loud is the static? Anyone have a video? Would it theoretically have no static if the head unit is turned off?

I'm getting static on the camera from my cree led lights. I've decided to keep the cree lights in and deal with the static as i prefer it brighter rather then using the camera. Even with the camera you still gotta look in the side view mirror to watch for the curb and scraping. I don't know what can be done.

I'm also getting LOUD engine noise through the speakers now when i turn my headlights on. I only started experiencing this after installing my sub and amp though.

Yeh there no static when the unit is off or in standby. Honestly you need to raise the volume a lot to hear the static.
