Please help...Eclipse head unit

My gf has an eclipse cd player in her car. On Friday her battery was replaced. So the radio display said "error" because you need that "security cd"(sorry I don't know the terminology). She never got around to using that "security cd" so that the radio would work again. Saturday her dad was riding around in the car and couldn't work the radio. He didn't know about the "security cd" so he kept pushing buttons on it. That "error" message changed to a "help" message.

Today she tried putting in the "security cd" but the thing wouldn't work. She thinks it has something to do with the message changing from "error" to "help" because of her dad. I tried unhooking the car battery again hoping to that would change the display message. But it didn't work. She doesn't know where her manual is for the cd player. Does anyone know what we could do?? Thanks in advance for the help.

if the hu is was bought legally, then you should be able to call eclipse. or even go to an ecliplse dealer and they should be able to reset it for you. i just hope your deck isnt hot or your gf is sol.

Nah, it was bought legally. It's actually her brother's old car her rents bought for her. He left the eclipse head unit in the car for her to keep. Sucks that her brother didn't give her the manual or receipt to go with it. And I doubt he has them since that was several years ago and they have moved twice since then. But I am going to call Eclipse and an Eclipse dealer in my area later on today.

I was reading online about Eclipse's ESN Security. After 10 failed attempts, the unit has to be sent back to the factory to be reset. Hopefully a local Eclipse dealer in our area can reset it without going through the hassle of sending it back to the factory. Worse comes to worse, I will ask a buddy to install a new head unit so that she won't have to go through this hassle if it ever happens again. Thanks for your advice.

Do not stick any more cds or randomly push buttons any more, as someone else said, it will lock up the unit. Just call up Eclipse, they should be able to help. They might ask for some kind of proof of purchase or the radio's serial number, so have that information available.

Cool Thanks. I told her not to touch the player anymore. I have no clue how many times her dad fiddled with it. The number I have for Eclipse is out in CA. So I will have to call them when they open. Thanks again for the help
