it can sound very good if done correctly... i seriously recommend you get an eq/preamp/line driver... audio control makes some nice all-in-one units that'll really clean up your sound.

yeah. i installed this setup in a couple of *imports* for guys who later bought a receiver when they had more money.
But i do not want to change out the factory deck. and i was wondering if anyone else had this setup with the BMW factory deck.

thanks. do you have a link/website for that audio control product.
i might just get an equalizer also.

I'm in the process of upgrading mine system right now with a 4 channel amp, eq, new front speakers and woofer and am using the factory deck. I got it playing (not pretty yet so no pics), and it's very quiet (as in no noise) and sounds very good. The stock BMW deck is of pretty good quality. The stock deck does clip at higher volume levels so it's best to set the amp/ep/processor gains to make full output before/at the deck clipping point.

You can grab all the connections you need right off the stock amp. That is except for amp power and ground. There's no need to access the back of the deck.

h/k or not, doesn't matter - same signal coming from the head unit. AudioControl is the way to go. If you want a DIY, I posted one in my sig.
