Can some one point out the con's of having a SuperCharger?

I am interested in getting the ESS supercharger for my 325i, however, I've heard it can really mess up your trans? is that true? what else are you risking?

is a supercharger really necessary for anyone? how fast do you plan on going? unless you are going to be racing, then i think it is pointless to have one.
