In car microphone and speakers...

I did a search, I couldn't find anything.

I wanted to get into the prewired cell system and add a headset jack to the in car microphone and speakers, and have that come out of the console somewhere, so I could us it like a regular headset. Does anyone know of a DIY where this has been done or if this is even possible. If there is no DIY I might just being having some fun tomorrow trying to figure it out myself and I will be making one. Thanks for any help.

The microphone is next to the sunroof controls, and, in older E46s, I believe the speaker is a dedicated speaker under the driver's dash. In theory, you should be able to tap into the speaker and microphone.

Problem is, unless you can match impedance levels on both speaker and microphone, your results might not be optimal. You could try and see what happens, but good results are not guaranteed.
