If I remember correctly, you insert a CD with pics on it, then you can choose to set it as a backround.

AVIC-N1 Custom Background Images

When storing original pictures on a CD-R (-RW), create a folder named “BG”, store the picture files in this folder. Up to 20 picture files can be used in the BG folder.
· Note 1: Do NOT put MP3 files on the disc. This causes the system to recognize the disc as an MP3 disc, and not a BG Picture disc.
· Note 2: It is recommended to put at least 100MB of data on the CD-R for the AVIC-N1 unit to be able to upload your personalized images.

Only JPEG format pictures can be used, with resolution up to 2048x1536 pixels. Progressive format JPEG pictures cannot be used.

File names can only use standard characters (A-Z, a-z) and numbers (0-9). International (accented) characters cannot be used.

BG Picture Updating Steps:

1. Insert a CD-R (-RW) to the disc-loading slot.

2. Touch “Settings” in the Main menu, and then touch “Background Picture Setting”.
· The picture selected for each screen is indicated on the right side of “AV Background” and “Navigation Background” items.

3. Touch “Navigation Background” or “AV Background”.

4. Touch “Import from Disc”.
· The list of the pictures stored on the CD-R (-RW) is displayed.

5. Touch a picture you want for the background.

6. Select how to display the picture.
· “Center”: Selected picture is displayed at the center of the screen.
· “Repeat”: Selected picture is patterned, and displayed as covering the whole screen.

7. Touch “Done”
