Track guys and AXers - what tires are you running
OK guys - help me out! Tell me what tire and wheel combos, what sizes, and what pressures your running for autocrosses and track days. I'm making the switch from a C5 corvette to the M3 this year and would like to know what people are running on.

Bridgestone S03's on stock rims. Once I wear through those I'm gonna go with some Kumho Ecstas...great performing tires and good prices...

Here's Mine!!
This is on a 330ci zhp,
w/pss9 Turnermotorsports Sways Turnermotorsports rear aluminum shock mounts w/reinforcements R/Dynamic front stress bar Shoes: Track: Kosei k1 17x8.5 (16.8lbs) on Dunlop supersport race 245/40/17. Street: Zhp's 135's with bridgestone re040 currently out of stock on 255/35/18, back ordered until?? (got a rear flat, suck's, tire is $250 by its self, Ouch!!) Street 2: BBS RX 18x8 w/ 225/40/18 S0-3's, currently on car! Just came back from winterfest, let me tell you that for the price these DOT race tires are great!. Once warmed up they are great, but get a bit greasy if they get to hot, but for the price/performance they are hard to beat. They are a bit lower in performance from the michelin pilot sport i used to have, but since they did not carry that specific size i had to compromise, but i was very impresses with the dunlops. Do recommend them!! Pedro |

GY F1 GS-D3's
225 and 255 rear(forgot height, sorry). There awesome tires, just dont do such a wide rear and skinny front. I was forced to get these sizes cuz I only had a day to get them and that was all they had. My next set up will probably be 255 or 245 all around |

hey drew!
welcome, its brian dowling(rx7/s2000s guy). just got an '03 JB this week with only 5200 miles the car came with OEM 19s, but im most likely going with 17s for the track(lot cheaper rubber too) with 235/275s. i have to do some more research though...this months grassroots mag has specs on turners speedvision and grandamerican 330s...you might want to check it out. take it easy- brian |

Hey Brian, How has the winter been to you. I just ordered my 18s from tire rack, considered 17s but didn't want to give up any top end at places like Road Atlanta. You going to be at the Seat Time day coming up? You can reach me at Fandangoracing@aol.com.

Kumho Ecsta. They're cheap, yet grip remarkably well, so I don't mind destroying them. 225/45ZR17
Another solid choice are the Falken Azeni Sport, these are a very popular choice with many of the club racers and autocrossers I hang around with. Pressures: stock pressures are fine, perhaps a bit less, make sure the rears have a bit more in them than the fronts to help counter your understeer (and slightly reduce the wear that inevitably comes from being the drive wheels). All E46's have it. You don't need off-the-line traction at the track like you do at the drag strip, so inflate those rears! I wouldn't buy $200 tires like the S03 or GS-D3 to destroy on the track. The Falkens and Kumhos have 90-95% of the raw grip (though perhaps not as much wet traction) for about half the price. Sometimes, when I'm feeling particularly evil, I bust out the 15" wheels with what remains of my last set of CH95's and thrash those a bit.

Im assuming you have an M3 now (from the tire sizes you mentioned). I dont think you can buy 17" wheels for an M3 cause the brakes are so big. 18" in your lightest/cheapest/best option.
