sub/capacitor question
I have a question regarding installing sub. I heard that I will need a one farad capacitor so that the battery wouldn't be drained away by the sub. How much are those capacitors?
Also, I have a JL 12W3. What kind of amp will work best for it? Is 300W mono going to be enough? What else do I need to install the sub? |

Anywhere from 100 to 300 watts would be good for that sub. If that amp is the only amp in your system, then you do not need a capacitor. It might help a little, but it's not necessary. Your battery will not die from just one relatively small amplifier.

General rule: 1 Farad Cap per 1000 watts of Amp power
You'll be fine. |
