sub/capacitor question

I have a question regarding installing sub. I heard that I will need a one farad capacitor so that the battery wouldn't be drained away by the sub. How much are those capacitors?
Also, I have a JL 12W3. What kind of amp will work best for it? Is 300W mono going to be enough?
What else do I need to install the sub?

Anywhere from 100 to 300 watts would be good for that sub. If that amp is the only amp in your system, then you do not need a capacitor. It might help a little, but it's not necessary. Your battery will not die from just one relatively small amplifier.

General rule: 1 Farad Cap per 1000 watts of Amp power
