Nope. The SLR and CGT are faster, but the Z06's time is damn good. I'm sure the Enzo is faster too. Several other "non production" cars are faster as well. Many race cars have sub 7 min times!

Nuremburg = Location of post WWII trials of Hitler's henchmen.
Nurburg (Nurburgring) = Home of the perhaps one of the most world reknowned race tracks.

The fast I've seen a car go was the BMW Ring Taxi.. a modded 740i that was also a Pirelli Tire test car. The driver was an ex-STM racer.

Although the automobile never reached production, one fast BMW at the Nurburgring was the X5 LeMans V12. It tore the through the track at an impressive 7:49!! not bad for an SUV.

Also of note- This time was achieved on a slightly longer version of the track - 20.832km as opposed to the new ZO6 which ran 20.6 kms.

technically, the Donkervoort 270RS holds the "production car" title for the fastest lap at Nurburgring Nordschlife at 7:18. (http://fourtitude.rely.net/cgi-bin/a...view.cgi/5/908). whether you consider this Donkervoort a production car..well, it does look like a kit car, but technically it holds the title. the Porsche Carrera GT used to have the fastest time for a production car at the nordschlife at 7:28 driven by Walter Rohl. to clarify, 7:40 as listed above and even 7:32 track time for the CGT are old listings, which have been bested by Rohl's 7:28 run.

So there we have it, the Donkervoort holds the record, but I dont think its sold in America. So the record for a production car in America would be the CGT at 7:28 driven by Rohl. Hopefully someone here can post a link to the vid of Rohl driving around the Mclaren powered X5 LM on the Ring.
