Help w/ replacement tires

Hi Everyone,

I am looking for some advice and suggestions. I am ready to swap out my original tires on my 330i w/ sport package, Continental ContiSport Contact, front 225/45/17 and back 245/40/17.

I am wondering if I can get some suggestions and comments on tires and tread wear.

I have looked into Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 and Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 when it comes to summer tires. I have also looked into Michelin Pilot Sport A/S for all season tires. Being in California, I do not anticipate I will be driving this car in the snow so I am kinda inclined to stick with summer tires all year round if possible. Having said that, I worried about tread wear. I have had the car for about 20 months now and have accumulated about 37k miles. So replacing 2 sets of summer tires every year and half can get expensive over time. I would like to know if there are other options out there that I can consider.

GS-D3's....

IMO, is a great tire for Calif peeps wanting a Max Performance Summer tire. It's the best of both worlds, awesome tire in the rain (no hydroplaining), no tramlining, quiet, great steering response and will out wear all the Top 5 ( http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...ay.jsp?type=MP ) and at a cost that is cheaper than most.

Give um a shot, you won't regret it, just my 2 cent.

I have the PS2s... they are awesome and the handling, especially in the rain, is fantastic. In light to moderate rain (SoCal style light to moderate) the car handles pretty much as though you're driving on dry pavement -- really surprised me.

I don't have any experience with the GS-D3s, but a number of people (see above post) really love 'em. If they're 95-99% as good as the PS2s, their price certainly makes them very attractive and a great buy.

Realistically, I'd think either choice is a winner, but there's a caveat: if you want great performance, you're gonna have to give up durability. In practically every case, they are mutually exclusive. I personally don't have too much of a problem with wear considering the duration (I'd estimate at this point about 25-35K per set), but I'm willing to shell out a couple o' bux extra for the performance.
