To those who put a manual knob on an auto shifter

In anticipation of getting an aluminium manual knob for my steptronic, I pulled out the auto knob just now so that I could see how it felt without the safety button.

Yikes!!! I was shocked how easily the gear swung from Drive to Reverse and to Park! The thought of accidentally flipping gears when reaching across for something or having one of the kids knock it playfully from D to R is frightening. (Images of bits of my engine spewing all over the highway come to mind)

Have any of you who have put a manual knob on an auto shifter had any close calls or horror stories to tell?

Having said that, I'll probably still go ahead and pop on a manual knob for the looks but change it back to the old one when the kids are in the car
