Installed my ice>Link: Plus yesterday
(Sorry I don't have any pictures, but if you're really desperate, I can take a few.)
Put it in the center console armrest. Everything went fairly smoothly....except... In the BMW specific instructions that Dension has on their site, and in the package, there is a very big, bold warning: Make sure you have the vechicle's radio code before disconnecting the battery cables! Well, in the little leather purse that all of the manuals came in, there is a book on how to operate the radio. In the front of that book is a security card. It had on it the Radio type, the serial number, and NO security code. I finally end up down at the dealership after trying 3 different ways to get them to give me the code over the phone and after looking for a few minutes, the tech that was helping me went to one of the SAs. He looked it up, and couldn't find it. Then, he looks at me and asks what year it is. "2004" I say. He says "Ahhh, there is no code. They got smart and realized a few years ago that no one wants to steal the stock stereo." I'm not sure how I feel about it - vs - but at least we were headed for dinner only a few miles away, so it wasn't like I wasted an hour dealing with it.Being that I had everything ready to go from earlier in the day - I wired everything and was amazed, there is nothing exposed, except when you lift the entire armest up, you can see the cable running from inside the armrest into the center console. I wrestled with removing and installing the trim on the rear door jamb, and the seat cushion between the seat back and door, but figured it out eventually. - when I got home from dinner, I set up some lights in strategic places, disconnected the battery, plugged in the connections, re-attached the battery calbes, turned the car on and plugged in my iPod. I got music! Now, apparently, my stereo is old enough to not support track titles, and I can't read the controls on the stereo display, but hopefully there is something I can do about that. We'll see. I did familiarize myself with the controls to some extent, so I'm not going to be hopeless, but there's still more to learn.Soooo, now that I accomplished that, I feel like I'm ready for anything! Next up, an AA supercharger! That can't be any more difficult to install, can it? Welllll, maybe I'll just put in a front strut tower brace... Any recommendations on which one?
