BMW Universal Transmitter

I read before that most of the people out there are getting poor range with the transmitter. I also read that homelink offered an enchancement to increase the range. So before I ordered it, I emailed homelink about the enchancement. They replied that they no longer offer the enchancement and to call them if I had range problems.

Well, I bought the transmitter. I believe Circle BMW had the cheapest price so far @ $134.99. Installation was fairly easy. Trust me, I'm not that good with cars. If I can do it, so can you. It took me a mere 5 mins. After 20mins of careful cutting. You'll know what I mean. I installed it and programed it with no problem at all. Now to test it.

I was kinda scared of the stories with bad range so I decided to start far and work myself closer to the garage. I drove almost a block away from my garage. I can see my garage and it's straight ahead, right in front of me. I pressed the button and the darn garage started to close. I was amazed. This has a longer range than my previous remote.

Has anyone else seen this range? I'm so happy! I can't stop smiling!

I bought mine about a year ago...

and had some problems with the range. Homelink sent me a metal strip to adhere to the transmitter to increase the range and it worked very well.

Maybe the new transmitters are better.

Sweet!

You've got to show this to me. I've been thinking about getting this, but I just couldn't justify the cost!

I get generally good range from my Universal Transmitter... only problem is that I approach my garage door from the side rather than from the front, and the building is made of reinforced concrete... so I have to wait until I'm in front of the door to open it.

One thing I don't get !

One thing I fail to understand, and maybe someone here can shed some expert light....

.... why DOESN't an M3 coupe / convt already have a Universal Garage Door opener ???? My friggin 2000 323ci convt with Prem Pkg had that. Since the M3 cab comes loaded with everything, then why not the UGDoor opener???? Is it because they have not designed one for the M3 mirror ? If not, then why not? Who the hell wants to park their M3 out on the street? Nobody does, until and unless they have to. It's sad to see numerous posts with people's wheels being jacked from their M3s !!!

So i don't get it, why BMW didn't put such a thought behind such a simple necessity. It is such a vital tool for a luxury car !!!

BMW is just cheap....hahaha

I just put mine in...great range, no problems

Yeah, can't understand why a 50K plus car doesn't have that when 20K Accords have them!

oh well....this is one mod I should have gotten right away!
