Klasse AIO/Sealant w/ S100 Carnauba Wax

Per many peoples input on this forum, I have applied the Klasse AIO, Klasse Sealant Glaze and then topped it with S100 carnauba wax. I did not notice any difference in the shine or feel after I applied the S100 wax on half of my hood. What is the purpose of this step to add the S100 on top of the Klasse? The Klasse AIO/Sealant worked AWESOME but I do not see the need for the S100 step.

I used to use Zymol Cleaner Wax (blue stuff) before the Klasse. One thing I noticed with the Zymol is the paint felt MUCH smoother to the feel than the Klasse/S100 combo. It also sheds water MUCH better than the KLASSE.

QUESTION: If I apply the Zymol Cleaner Wax on top of the Klasse AIO/Sealant, will it remove any of the Klasse paint protection I just applied? I want a smoother finish to my paint than what Klasse/S100 provide...

The purpose of adding a carnuaba wax on top of a synthetic layer of wax and sealant is for a little added protection, smoothness, and gloss in the paint. It helps for the detail job to last longer too because you get the layer of carnuaba, then as it wears off, your sealant will kick in. So the period of protection lasts longer.

However, after seeing S100 in action...or not in action, I am not a fan of it at all. The feel it leaves behind is not that smooth, even compared to Meguiar's Gold Glass or Yellow Wax, and it lasts for all of 2 days. In my opinion, it's a poor wax, and def. not worth the money.

For a carnuaba, I would look into the Poorboy's lineup at www.detailedimage.com

Or even Meguiar's Yellow Wax at your local auto store. It's a good carnuaba wax that does its job and leaves behind a silky smooth finish. You don't need to buy the most expensive thing on the market for a topper wax.

Just my 2 cents. I'm sure the guys at Detailed Image can give you a much better idea of what other products are available to you out there.

My Ride: and hes hairy too
you may or may not notcie it, synthetic products usually dont look as bright as a carnauba product, its all personaly preference, i actually prefer the darker look.

Could I use the Zymol Cleaner Wax on top of the Klasse AIO/SG or will it remove the sealant? I really want that smooth finish and S100 just isn't doing it for me. Any other suggestions?

Cleaner waxes will strip previous coats of protectant and add the 1 layer the Zymol would give you, same thing as if you tried to do AIO on top of them all as well... they are chemical polishes.

What color car do you have? Some colors do not benefit as much from a carnauba as others do. Ken nailed most of the answers on the head.

Sincerely,

George @ DI

My car is Jet Black. The shine and reflection are awesome but I am used to towels sliding right off of the paint after buffing out my cars with previous waxes. The Klasse AIG/SG with S100 does not do this at all. The paint is perfectly smooth with no grit. Could using the Meguairs Showtime Shine to help take the SG off be causing this?

The S100 is a Carnauba Wax and is not designed to leave the surface slippery. It helps add depth and gloss to the paint. I would agree its not extremely slick, but relatively slick. The good part is that the carnauba based waxes don't last very long so it should come off within 3 -4 weeks naturally or in 1 - 2 washes if you want to remove it.

I don't think the Megs is the sole cause of this but it certainly doesn't help. The HGSG should remove rather easily with just a good microfiber towel if you let it sit the proper amount of time. I recommend letting it sit 8 - 12 hours minimum for optimal results. After that time it should have cured properly and given you maximum results. Using too much of the Showtime Shine can leave a residue behind making it difficult for the Carnauba to spread properly. I don't use the Showtime Shine because I feel it leaves too much residue behind compared to other quick detailers I've used like the Poorboy's World Spray and Wipe or Spray and Gloss.

I would recommend giving this process one more try and see if you definitely don't like it. If you don't I would recommend trying the Poorboy's World Natty's Blue Paste Wax that is designed for darker colored cars like yours. I've heard great reviews of the product from people like kpeng and others on the forum.

Unhappy

I noticed a coulple of key things in your first post that were not touched upon.

My comments may be overkill, by my results are amazing

"I used to use Zymol Cleaner Wax (blue stuff) before the Klasse." - This is not soo good. I'll explian. First proper prep of the paint before AIO and SG for maximum results would be Wash, Clay, Wash, Polish,(opional) Wipe down with 50/50 mix distilled water and Isopropyle(sp?) alcohol. This will leave a smooth finsh with no remaining wax or contaminates on the paint. AIO and SG bond to the paint, in your case they were bonding or not, to the layer of Zymol. S100 is the last step, but SG cannot be applied over S100, so be sure you are done with SG. Yes zymol with strip or reduce the layer of Klasse.

Second -
" I have applied the Klasse AIO, Klasse Sealant Glaze and then topped it with S100 carnauba wax." - What was the timeframe this happend. Was the SG given a chance to cure (12-24 hours depending on weather)? How many layers of SG, I never use less than 3 and usually don't begin to see awsome results until 3 layers. that is when the protection is maximized IMHO. Carnuba will sheet water different than a sealant, this really means nothing other than different suface tensions. I know klasse will out last the zymol cleaner by a long shot. s100 is weak at best ,but can give a good shine with proper prep, this is after clay, polish, s100 cleaner, and s100 wax

"Could using the Meguairs Showtime Shine to help take the SG off be causing this?" - Yes and no. I have heard mixed debates, but Showtime should be safe. I use distilled water in a spray bottle. But if you have having trouble with SG, give it some time to dry or you are using too much, if you can see it you could be using too much, many extremly thin layers are better than one thick one.

For black I would suggest just AIO + Pinnacle Souveran. SG can can be funny on black, you will loose some depth.

Shoot me any questions.

Hope this helps,

Steve

Very nice. I definitely prefer a sealant (personal preference for Menzerna FMJ or Zaino) plus Pinnacle Souveran for dark colors.
